Hi not sure if I can ask this here or not? If not, please move it and forgive me.
Anyhow, I have this problem that when I do FRAPS the mouse cursor shows in the vid. It gets captured as well and I dont want that of course. I dont think I've seen that on any other released video.
Leafo had no idea, I tried searching for it to no vain, so I ask you FRAPSaholics out there if you have an idea how to get rid of it.
Thanks, LOWA

Wow Lowa that is weird, havn't got a clue why it would do that. Does it do that when you record EVE in fullscreen? or Windowed? Not to be confused with Fraps recording setting of windowed or fullscreen.

Edited by: Lowa on 21/01/2005 01:46:21 It does it in full screen and in window mode! I just cant get rid of the bloody thing!
I have the latest mouse drivers I might add (MS IntelliM 3.0).
I dont have the latest gfx-drivers though, they are from september or something 2004 but all games seems to be performing so I really dont want to change it unless someone really tells me too. Driver version: 6.6.7.2 for Nvida6800.

Just an idea, could it be that it gets recorded when you use a software cursor, but it doesn't get recorded when you use a hardware mouse cursor? (It's a viddie driver thing) ------------------------------------------ I am a love machine, feeding my fantasy, give me a kiss or three, have fun!

Hmm...good thinkin...now what do you mean? Whats the difference? How do I check it? Fix it? Uninstall mouse drivers? Update video?
I have transformed into a PC-n00b, I have no idea on how to debug anything! Except storage arrays...

Pre Exodus/Shiva = No Cursor
Post Exodus/Shiva = Cursor
It ain't a FRAPS problem.
It's probably some changes that were made to the cursor and how it interacts with the game that makes FRAPS capture it.

Edited by: Lowa on 01/02/2005 21:13:05 BAH! Removed the IntelliMouse driver and it removed the cursor when FRAPSing the login screen but as soon as I enter the game its back... I'm starting to hate the little thing...
EDIT: Rizmordan, sounds like it but how come Leafo does not have this problem then? This is so irritating!

Hmm.. I just tried fraps in Eve and my mouse cursor does not show up. I'm using fraps version 2.3.1 build 2661. I don't have any special mouse drivers installed and I have a ATI Radeon 9500 pro with Catalyst driver version 4.11. Hope that's helpful to someone.
As far as I know, I haven't done anything special or messed with any settings. It's always worked for me.

Hmmm....I don't have this problem. Can it maybe have something to do which gfx-card one uses? If they handle the Direct 3D differently.
Here is my specs for reference, may help us to narrow down the reasons for this problem:
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Card name: RADEON 9700 PRO (ATI) Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6483 (English) Microsoft USB IntelliMouse Explorer 4.0 (IntelliPoint v 5.20.413.0) FRAPS v2.5.0 (build 3915)
Does anyone with ATI-gfx have this problem? Or can it be that it only appears on nVidia-cards?

Nah, no settings in FRAPS anyway, there is not much you can change there eiter. Im for it being the GFX-card, I may be wrong here but I have a memory of my mouse cursor being solid white when I had a ATI-card and now its outlined in white but filled black? Or was that changed in Exodus?
This is getting on my nerv, I will try to change my GFX-drivers and see what happens.

I installed fraps 2.5.1 about a minute or so ago, and the cursor is gone. I suggest that 2.5.0 users upgrade

Hey Leafo bud, I just realized that you do have that problem. Open up your latest version vid about the noobs and play the begining with the warping in scene of noob ships. You'll see your curser at the bottom right.
You'll see it again in the rest of the vid as well. Dum du dum dum. Seems like an EVE issue. You are not alone Lowa, we feel your pain.

No I don't.
All the material in that video is captured by Lowa and just edited by me. That is what I meant with the texts "Captured by [NSN] Lowa" and "Produced by [NSN] Leafo" in the end
I still though haven't found any solution to this problem that many seem to have.

I installed fraps version 2.5.1 and the mouse cursor now is getting captured by fraps. I then went back to using fraps version 2.3.1 and now the mouse cursor isn't being captured.
I used google and found this WoW thread where someone mentions there's a fraps setting that lets you choose whether to record the cursor or not. Maybe it's a hidden setting or something. I can't ask that guy about it or post on that forum since I don't play WoW.

hmm... login failure for some reason... we'll try again later unless someone else asks first...

Yeah, sorry to say, it was me only doing that, trying my very best to hide it though. I feels like a mix here now; either its an ATI vs Nvidia thing and/or the new fraps since the WoW thread talks about a setting that does not exist in newer versions and someone said something about 2.3.1 .
Im now at a point where I know the cursor is only like 3mm big but when I see it it's waving at me all over the fckn screen! ITS NOT FUNNY YOU HEAR!?!
Thanks everybody for still searching about this, PLEASE if you can, log into WoW and ask!
EDIT: Sent a message to FRAPS and asked them about it. Maybe I get something back.
Cheers, LOWA ps. The irony; Im listening to ATB - Your not alone...

Edited by: Gindar on 13/02/2005 09:43:27 hey guys, i got fraps 2.5.1 and the cursor doesn't show for me. so i'm pretty sure it's a vid card thing. i don't see any option to turn it on or off though, so i guess you're outa luck unless you change vid cards.
i'm running: p4 3.4 ghz nvidia geforce 6600 and i ran eve on window mode.
*edit* also come to think of it i have my screen resolution turned up very high, 1152x864 to be able to run in window mode. try that.
another strange thing is that i tried an older version of fraps (2.0) and it didn't work at all, nothing happened when i pressed record.

I haven't chacked the driver version for the vid card yet tho..

So its random now... *sigh* My setup:
P4, 3.0 Nvidia GForce 6800 (66.93 driver package) 1280x1024 res Fraps 2.5.0 (and tested with 2.5.1)
Which means that I got higher res and the same vendor of GFX-card. It works for you and not for me.
Cheers, LOWA

When I record in fullscreen (1280x1024) I get the pointer recorded, but not in window mode (1024x768). I have no clue as to why, but I thought I'd add my info to help solve this riddle.
Fraps 2.5.1 build 4060 at 25fps, no sound, full size Asus GF6800GT , Forceware 6.14.10 (beta) Logitech Mouse, Logitech driver 9.79 Athlon 64 3400
