Edited by: Zindela on 10/01/2011 02:38:11 My Vaio with an i5 540 and a HD5470(crappy), 8gb RAM can run 2 clients on medium-low at about 15fps each, one at 1920x1080, the other at 1366x786
Anything with a better video card will just do better.
edit: It runs one client at medium at 40FPS at 1920x1080
I paid about US $1000 for it, this past summer. the extra 4Gb of RAM was a later upgrade (I love Newegg Black Friday deals). -------------------

Did you perhaps stop to think that most people don't want to carry a 17.3inch, 8.5lb laptop around for a few hours each day? It's more expensive to cram high performance parts into a smaller form factor, with less weight.
It's not a gaming laptop, though I do use it to play EVE occasionally. If I'm gaming, I use my self-built desktop. It also actually fits in my backpack, and doesn't have a huge fan strapped to the back.

thanks for the input, quite usefull, i don't want to spend to much, but i look for a 58xx --> up, see what my wallet can get me
the notebook is 90% of his time crammed on the desk here, in my case, don't care for it being a bit bigger/smaller

I got a Dell XPS 1530 with an Nvidia GeForce 8600m GT. At the time I had a spot picked out that would only accommodate a 15" form factor so that's what I got - not really planning on using the internal monitor.
Then I set up a computer table so that I could use the internal monitor as well and found that the 15" internal was to small to be all that useful and would have preferred that I had gotten the 17".
One other thing about using this laptop with EVE is ... it gets hot ... so I've got an external fan on it. It's fine without the fan if EVE isn't running (and I've adjusted the EVE settings to do what I can there) but if EVE is running it gets hot.
In any case - if you're going to play games on it - you'll be happier with the 17" as long as you don't have to lug it around to much and can fit it into your desk top scheme.
Other factors involved in this are that EVE doesn't run as fast in Windowed mode so it depends on what you're doing in the game. If you're mining or running missions it's probably fine but if your in big fleet battles that already lag ... it might be slower than you'd like.
Of course - the more you spend - the less likely you are to have problems.
