Seems recent updates/patches have unfixed the Monkeysphere Exploit.
Several corp and alliance pilots are reporting the sudden attack but attackers not showing in local channel
Petitions have been filed.

As said before, and will be said again, local chat freebie intel in null REALLY needs to go away.
1. Make local operate like W-space. 2. ????? 3. Profit.

If it's done it has to be done officially and to everyone's knowledge, not via an unfixed bug, where they think local is there, but it's really not. 0/10 troll.

Edited by: Eternum Praetorian on 10/01/2011 03:02:00 I like part of the exploit where it makes scouting the out-gates useless while at the same time making the lone pirate completely invulnerable to retaliation of any-kind.
I mean as far as hacks go having Chuck Norris fly your invincible pirate ship into battle is pretty good...
/Sarcasm Off: If it's true that high end mineral prices are really suffering because of this, it just goes to show you that null sec players are every-bit as lazy and inept as the so called "Empire Carebears" that they love to hate.

Agreed on sov null farmers' hypocrisy. Still, the reason they're lazy because they don't realize they're actually in danger, thinking that local is still safe without knowing that it's no longer reliable.

I like the part where they have everyone convinced that they actually can control some bug that may or may not really exist. Every time I hear this whine, my first thought is that some people were stupid and did not pay attention. They can't, of course, but convincing you all that they can is really just as good.
And, yes, I was there for the alleged monkeysphere exploit that was blamed for Atlas's loss. I know for a fact that this was the excuse given by extremely poor leadership for never giving a rat's ass in the first place - and WoT, of course. Hard to defend space when your attention is on a completely other game.

As fun as COAD-esque ****-talking may be, shut the **** up and take it to COAD.

Why not solve this problem once and for all by removing local from everyone
at same time, scanners can be upgraded to be autocycling and merged with overview

I've yet to see any good evidence the "monkeysphere exploit" even exists.

I saw a manned ship several days back that wasn't shown in local. Was a pilot of a greater alliance.

Why not solve this problem once and for all by removing Pandemic Legion from EVE? Will stop almost all botting, and we'll see trillions of laundered ISK flow back into the EVE economy to boot.

Actually this is a new feature to counter botters, to whoever is doing this, GOOD!
Hulkabaddon can target hi sec botters and PL can target 0.0 botters.

Edited by: Marlona Sky on 10/01/2011 05:40:20 You all are truly foolish to think CCP does not care about exploits and RMT and bots. I heard they devoted tons of resources towards stomping such thing. One task force called "Working On Dat" specializing in stopping exploits and revising unfinished content. Another crack team they have has 514 developers working hard to fight botters and RMTers. Code name Don't U Steal That. Countless amounts of resources has been diverted to these two teams to help ensure your experience is the best possible. Now stop your crying and get back to those belts.

Because CCP fear what the constant calls will do to the server.
Until they find a solution for that it will stay this way.

Happened fairly recently to us as well.
We had cloaked scouts watching a POS that had numerous pilots moving ships around behind the shield. NONE of the pilots in question were showing up in local.
A petition was put through but I'm willing to bet that it wasn't handled fast enough to allow the gm's to actually see it for themselves.
