Got to say the effects.soundtrack etc in the movie was outstanding. Ok the plot was thin, but i dont think it was supposed to be deep and meaningful!
Hopefully a Tron 3 will be developed!

I didn't, they basically expain the plot of the first one anyway. It is a pretty good movie.

Good music, pretty lights, that was about it. That movie was way overhyped, to the point where they only used 1 guy that actually knew how to act and the rest were having a good read.

Edited by: Culmen on 10/01/2011 18:52:59 Alot of people are going Waaah! The new Tron doesn't even attempt to represent how a real computer system works! Waaaaaah!
Thing is the orginal didn't either. Personally I think the original was slightly over rated. The effects look goofy, the plot was thin and it had nothing to do with computers.
Now we have a new movie out and people are saying. The effects look spectacular, but the plot was thin and it had nothing to do with computers.
Nostalgia goggles much?
Now I know many detractors will say "but in the 80s computers were mysterious things, while now they are common place" My response is, would using the light sailer to explain data encapsulation really have improved the film very much? Not really, it would be nice, but it wouldn't be significantly better.
Nobody bats an eye when a bunch of kids walk into a closet and enter a world of magic? Nobody takes issue that it isn't a study in wicca or hermetic magic Why should you compare the magic of the grid to a real life computer system.
To me the best Tron is still Tron 2.0. That's right, the early 2000's game. That one explores the implications of digitization and how it all might go horribly wrong. Classic Science Fiction. And it's also the closest Tron has ever come to real computers. and further more why do i even need a sig? |
