From what I can tell, that link has nothing to do with DUST514 coming to the PC at all. They are talking about the link between EVE and DUST514 which should be going in to testing sometime soon. Numbers of terminally stupid people seem to be on the increase, I suggest we have a real life Stupidageddon to rectify this issue. |

Actual Fact Alert!
DUST514 not being released on XBOX360 has nothing to do with Microsoft not being interested. At all. The reason CCP went purely with Sony is because of the massive restrictions that Microsoft places on any company wishing to release games on it's console.
The first being that Microsoft refused to let CCP host the game on their own servers. They stipulated that DUST must run on Microsoft owned servers. Secondly there is the issue of updates. Microsoft charges each and every independent producer of games an exorbitant amount of money to release updates and/or patches for their games, and they limit those producers to a fixed number of updates and/or patches per financial year. That has been a policy at Microsoft for a number of years. The Third and final nail in the coffin was Aurum. For obvious reasons CCP want all the revenue from the sale of Aurum in DUST514 to flow straight in to their own coffers. Microsoft had other ideas and were instead insistent that players of DUST would only be able to purchase Microsoft points OR purchase their Aurum from Microsoft, who would then of course take their own cut.
Now when you take all of the above in to consideration; Lack of control over gaming servers and the accompanying network infrastructure, restrictions to updates and content patches and a reduced potential income from any Micro-transactions in the game, it is not hard to see why CCP decided NOT to go with Microsoft as a business partner. Instead, they went with Sony. Sony basically said to CCP "You do whatever you want and we'll support you, all we ask is that players sign in through PSN". Hardly a massive demand when you think about it.
And finally, as if all the above wasn't enough reason to quit griping about Sony and PS3, when CCP told Microsoft that the point of DUST514 was for it to be integrated in to EVE, Microsoft reportedly said "Only if EVE also runs on our servers, otherwise there will be no connection".
I don't know about anyone else, but the idea of Microsoft trying to run EVE pretty much makes my stomach turn. Numbers of terminally stupid people seem to be on the increase, I suggest we have a real life Stupidageddon to rectify this issue. |

MS wasn't interested in allowing CCP to host on their own servers. MS wasn't interested in making it affordable. MS wasn't interested in letting CCP have control of their MT currency.
MS simply wasn't interested in being a worthwhile partner.
I didn't need to post a wall of text to make one simple point. MS wasnt interested.
1/10 for your troll attempt. Thankfully your post is so clearly disingenuous that there is little to no risk of you being taken seriously. My views are my own, not those of my Corp. or my Alliance. |
