Totally new to ECM. Pretty new to nano-fits in general. Looked around a bit for Rook setups, and I'm on my way to Battleclinic, but I figured I'd get this out there and see if its remotely viable. Any alternates or improvements greatly appreciated.
Lows: 2 x BCS II 1 x PDS II
Mids: 1 x 10MN MWD II 2 x ECM Multispec Jammer II 1 x Warp Disrupt II 1 x Webber II 1 x Painter II 1 x MSE II
Highs: 5 x HAM II
Rigs: 1 x CCC 1 x Polycarb

Lolfit. It needs buffer, dc, 2 lse, cdfe or so. And you dont want to sit in point range with your rook + painter is unbelievable waste of mid on this ship.

How does this fit fail horribly? Let me count the ways:
1. The idea of a nano-Rook makes me vomit uncontrollably. 2. Multispecs? 3. Only two jammers. On a ship that is basically all about jamming. Multispecs. 4. MSE? MSE!? MSE!!?! 5. HAM's? Web? On a ship that will be primary and with a horrible tank? Really? 6. MULTISPECS?! 7. Polycarb? Enhancing your average speed to slightly more average. 8. CCC? On a pvp ship?
It is not viable. At all. Do almost the complete opposite of what you've done and you'll have a viable fit. Putting the 'irate' into 'Pirate' |

Edited by: Basura Blanco on 10/01/2011 20:34:30 Edited by: Basura Blanco on 10/01/2011 20:31:12 Roger that, thanks. Dropped the painter and added another MSE. Dropped the polycarb and added a PDA. Intended for a solo gank only, not small gang or fleet. Gotta have the CCC, I know they suck...couldn't find another option to fit the gear. Not really well educated on ECM, so not sure if the two multispecs will do well enough to give me some "ECM buffer" or not.
Lows: 2 x BCS II 1 x PDS II
Mids: 1 x 10MN MWD II 2 x ECM Multispec Jammer II 1 x Warp Disrupt II 1 x Webber II 2 x MSE II
Highs: 5 x HAM II
Rigs: 1 x CCC 1 x Particle Dispersion Amp
Up to 12k EHP from 9k.
Adding a flight of EC-300 drones as well.

You are doing it wrong!
Originally by: Stuart Price 1. The idea of a nano-Rook makes me vomit uncontrollably.
To not make stuart vomit, do the opposite - and opposite of nano in eve is... no prop mod and armor tank!
Also you are trolling right?

Edited by: Basura Blanco on 10/01/2011 20:37:37 Thought the painter was necessary myself, but Stuart indicated that it wasn't. Will try both in Sisi I guess.
Edit...confusing my forums. Some wag on Battleclinic said the painter was unnecessary. Sorry Stuart.

Edited by: NoLimit Soldier on 10/01/2011 20:54:49 If your going rook, and want some LOL do the "boss" version of the rook setup I use.
5 x HAM II 4 x Racial Jammers 1 x web 1 x warp disrupter 1 x mwd 3 x BCII Rigs are jam augmenter. 539 DPS, use thermal unless you know whats coming.
Engage anything battlecruiser and below, just overload the racial jammer and let loose.
**If you're not gate camping, drop the web for a multispec.

Okay... just... just stop and rethink your whole strategy.
I assume you've mostly flown tank and gank type ships, am I correct? Or PvE ships? Regardless, it doesn't matter.
You're trying to make the Rook into a "brawler" and/or "speed" ship... both of which it is most certainly is not capable of [effectively] doing. Ready for the secret behind the Rook? RRAAAAAAAANGE. You get in at range, jam, do damage, and get out. Simple. So fit the ship to do just that.
Trade the HAMs for HMLs (HAMs are short range and you don't want to be any closer than 30km)... take off the webber (wtf do you have that there for?), throw on another jammer... take off the painter, throw on either another jammer or a shield extender... take off the current rigs, fit Core Field Shield Extender rigs or (if you're feeling ballsy) ECM enhancer rigs. Lows to taste (fit signal amps for better jamming or BCUs for better damage). _______________________

So long as you stick to battlecruisers and below you can very much run right into them laughing the whole time as they are jammed and you are tearing them apart. 500+ selectable dps is nothing to laugh at. If you miss and they get drones out, next jam bail. Its pretty simple.
And the web is 1. keeping frigates that run, 2. Keeping battlecruisers from making it back to the gate on time.

ya the term nano is really more aimed at ships significantly faster than normal, all you have there is a solo rook setup.
I dont think the rook the can pull off being properly fast and being able to jam half well while having the ehp to miss jams, i spose it depends on your luck.

Dps/tank rooks are fun, but the only thing they really bring to the table over a similarly fit drake is the ECM gtfo factor - probably not worth the extra cost if you're careful about picking your fights anyway. 3% grid needed, 25kehp overheated, 432 dps - not all that great, but the ECM factor could be useful I suppose.

Um...you do realize the rook can solo right? And that an overloaded jammer on my fit will jam a hurricane 95%(ballpark) right?
Now gimp the fit with shields + point, or armor + point (no dps) and that cane will just slow boat its butt back to the gate. Or worse return fire and wipe you off its windshield.
But feel free to show the loss mails where this failed for you. I will have to go a few pages back but I can link some showing how well it works.
