Probably the one major deciding factor that made me try EVE is that it takes place in space and you can fly all sizes of Spaceships. I really like Spaceships and I am wonding what any other Sci Fi lovers favorite ships are.
Here is my List in no Particular Order
Drake (EVE) Firefly (Serenity) The Operatives Cruiser (Serenity) Romulan Warbird (TNG) Voyager (Voy) Terren Battlecruiser (Starcraft) Protoss Carrier (Starcraft) Covenent Cruiser (Halo) Phantasm (EVE) Reaver Ship (Firefly Ep 1) Star Destroyer (SW) Battlestar (BSG)
Whats your favorite space going ships that captured your imagination?

The Normandy.
I can actually walk around in that ship.
Just like I should be able to in all Eve ships. |

In accordance with my last post, I can't list any Eve ships as being one of my favorites. I tend to be more attracted to what's inside of the ship rather than the outside, and the outside of Eve ships aren't all that attractive either to me...
Also, I don't watch any sci fi shows, really. Never really tickled my fancy, so I can't say anything of those.

Oh god, favorite spaceships. Honestly the most amazing, imagination inducing space relating thing was the Battle of Endor in Ep. 6. I watch it over and over again! The Ferox, while it sucks, always has a spot in my hanger if I'm bored and want to take cool screenshots. The new scorpion skin in AWESOME. I also love the Chimera and Wyvern for whatever reason. My ultimate goal in EVE is to train up for one and PLEX it. I won't be able to do much with it but it'd be cool to be useful to my corp in some regard and have those fighters/FB's for coolness. God I feel like I'm in junior high again :D
Also, if you haven't read any of Eric Nylund's Halo books, DO IT. He does an awesome job narrating the space battles in there, and they always make me come back to EVE when I've gone astray.
Incom T-65 "X-Wing" starfighter (Star Wars) M-80 Calamari Cruiser (Star Wars) Ferox class cruiser (EVE) Scorpion class Battleship (EVE) Firefly+Mantis (most badass fighters in the game) Halo UNSC Cruiser Halo UNSC Frigate Protoss Carrier (Starcraft) Wyvern class supercarrier (EVE)

A few less obvious ones... or at least some not already named (too often) :
While not technically *just* a spaceship, a T.A.R.D.I.S. (Dr. Who) Shadow Vessels, especially telepath pilot edition (Babylon 5) Starfury (Babylon 5) Guild transporter frigates (Dune) The tiny one-person craft from "Flight Of The Navigator" Gunstar (The Last Starfighter) The Righteous Indignation (Bucky O'Hare) Starship Odyssey (Ulysses 31) The "Lewis & Clark" (from Event Horizon) The "Post-Dated Check Loan" formerly known as "Sword of Inevitable Justice" (from Schlock Mercenary) YT-1300 light freighter (the type of craft the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars is a part of) Slave 1 (Fett's ship from Star Wars) USS Defiant and USS Voyager (Star Trek)

good topic. =^_^=
Movies: Y-wing (Starwars) Sleek timeless design. Star Destroyer (Starwars) After the ANH opening, they just never cease looking menacing. Shadow Attack Vessel (Babylon 5) "it's like a scream inside your mind" BORG Cube (Star Trek) something endearing about a 3km long, wide and deep brick in space. Mon Calamari Star Cruiser (Starwars) fluid design, as if it came straight out of the sea.
Games: Sacrilege (EVE Online) just awesome design. Damnation (EVE Online) yeah, I'm a sucker for the Khanid ships. Archon (EVE Online) awesome, now with legs. Mothership (Homeworld) really the first Vertical! ship.
Other: Argonaut (Heroic Age) Lysithea (Voices of a Distant Star) these two look somewhat similar, but Lysithea has a more fluid feel.
and obviously: USS Discovery from 2001.

Besides that, the Arkbird from Ace Combat 5: the Unsung War (FANTASTIC game, btw). It is seriously one of the most beautiful designs for a spacecraft I have ever seen. -- "Far be it from me to stand in judgment. I prefer to sit." -Stephen Colbert |

LEXX, from Lexx Series
The most powerful ship in the galaxy, its sentient, it feeds/fuels itself ... best damn ship ever
Quote:
The Lexx is a bio-engineered, Manhattan-sized, planet-destroying bioship in the shape of a giant wingless dragonfly and also reminiscent of male genitalia. It was grown by ingesting organ collections from the protein bank on the Cluster, the seat of the Divine Order, for use by His Divine Shadow. The Lexx was originally intended as the ultimate deterrent: the threat of a weapon that could instantly obliterate any planet would keep the remaining "Heretic" worlds of the Light Universe in line, and those that refused to capitulate would be summarily destroyed to reinforce the point. This plan was foiled when the crew commandeered it to escape from the Cluster.
The most important function of the Lexx is its ability to destroy entire planets with a single, high-powered blast. Its only weapon is initiated by command from the captain only, followed by a highly dramatic sequence when the Ocular Parabola found on the surface of its eye tissue flips from a smooth surfaced dome into a complex array of satellite dish-like structures. Huge amounts of yellowish-orange particles are released en masse from the array and focused by Lexx's nervous system to a point just above its mouth. Once focused, the particles burst into a massive, forward-moving, planar wave which expands ahead of the Lexx exponentially until colliding with an object of sufficient mass to disperse it, usually a planet. The wave instantly vaporizes smaller ships without losing momentum. Though the Lexx is designed to destroy entire planets, it can fire less intense blasts to hit smaller targets; however, the smallest area it seems capable of destroying is roughly the size of an entire city such as Ottawa.

I make no apologies for the sheer number of B5 ships in the list. I watched the episode 'Severed Dreams' and saw how real space combat should go down - Capital ships duking it out whilst the fighters tried to take each other out and destroy the defense grids on the big ships. Very little has come close for the sheer impact that B5 had in that aspect, on a personal level that is.

@ Akita - For the record, the (original) Master's TARDIS was seen at one point as a functional Starforce ship - it did a normal atmospheric landing, not a materialization. So yes, it qualifies.
For those of you choosing ships from Dune - Are you referring to early artist renders (or book art), the 'first' (aka Sting) movie, or the two mini-series done by Sci-Fi?

Edited by: dr cisco on 14/02/2011 19:03:39 Galactica (BGS, instead of relying on high-tec electronics it uses brute force) USS voyager (star trek, small, fast, and survived the in the delta quadrant all by itself) Normandy (mass effect, nice, well equipped stealth ship) USS enterprise-D (star trek, though i dont like how the saucer section goes, it is a city on a ship) Pride of hiigara (homeworld 2, a mobile base of operations capable of collecting resources and turning them into a fleet. it could fight its own war) Serenity (firefly, guns? who needs guns to get into and out of danger? it's a transport ship!) pillar of autumn (halo 1, all alone in deep space and it manages to fight off the covenant) white base (mobile suit gundam, who needs an experienced crew? the ship was that good!) macross frontier (from macross frontier. it was a flying, self sustaining continent in deep space) great fox (star fox, ah childhood memories)
I didn't put in any mass produced ships from eve or whatnot, they just don't have soul.

probably my most memorable was my imperial courier from FE2. Flew that thing everywhere and used to love the retractable engines. Only other ship I used outside of that was the cobra mkIII. Within eve, nothing gets more iconic than the rifter and the apocalypse.

Originally by: Brujo Loco LEXX, from Lexx Series

I was really really upset when the new character creator came out. Previously, my character looked like Kai of the Brunnen-G. I couldn't replicate the look. They just don't have the hair style in the new creator.
