Anyway, I am looking to start getting serious about pvp in eve and after some experience fighting other frigs and cruisers in my Punisher, I have decided it is time for me to pick which type of cruiser I want to fly.
So.. I am amarr, which cruiser is like the Punisher, particularly one that has a good active + nos fit or a buffer + neut fit.
Thanks in advance.

Your T1 choices for Amarr Cruisers: - Maller: Heavy close range tackle with massive tank and low damage - Arbitrator: Everything Else - Omen: lol. - Augoror: lol.
You are looking for the Maller. :)

Anyone have any experience using the maller in a solo/small gang environment who could show me a good fit?

Nope but I have with the Arby and if you have good Drone Skills it can hold a heavy tank and does quite well in it's role. The Maller is not a solo ships really, more of a Gang Boat, it has few Frig defences and is slow and easily catchable. The Arby will serve you better in most small gang situations.
Pasting fits I posted in another thread. ----------------------- [Arbitrator, Standard] 1600mm Reinforced Crystalline Carbonide Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II
Warp Scrambler II X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners Tracking Disruptor II, Tracking Speed Disruption
Small Energy Neutralizer II Small Energy Neutralizer II Small Nosferatu II Small Nosferatu II
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Warrior II x5 Warrior II x5 Hammerhead II x5 Hammerhead II x2 Hornet EC-300 x5 Hornet EC-300 x1 ------------------- Orbit fast with tracking on and an AB running. Web and Scram and you should be fine with your large buffer. If the target is packing a Med Neut leave only the NOS and tackle running. ------------------- [Arbitrator, TD Gang Support] Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Tracking Disruptor II Tracking Disruptor II Tracking Disruptor II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
Small Energy Neutralizer II Small Energy Neutralizer II Small Nosferatu II Small Nosferatu II
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Infiltrator TD-600 x5 Hammerhead II x5 Warrior II x5 Hornet EC-300 x5 ------------------- Haven't tried this fit yet but the concept is straight forward enough. Pick your targets and your scripts and mess up there range and tracking. Drone Dmg is Icing on the cake, TD Drones are a lil something extra and EC's for GTFO. As I said I haven't flown this one yet. ------------------- [Arbitrator, Neut Boat] 1600mm Reinforced Crystalline Carbonide Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II
Warp Scrambler II X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Small Capacitor Booster II, Navy Cap Booster 400
Small Energy Neutralizer II Small Energy Neutralizer II Small Energy Neutralizer II Small Energy Neutralizer II
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Warrior II x5 Hammerhead II x5 Warrior II x3 Hammerhead II x3 Hornet EC-300 x5 Hornet EC-300 x1 ------------------- Similar to the first one with more of an emphasis on catching and disabling rather then brawling. I like this one when in a small group personally.
It is one of the most versile ships I have flown.

Edited by: Splinter 07 on 11/01/2011 11:47:44 Im a 3yr pvper and even i still use my maller for solo pvp, if you say its crap then your using it wrong, i have gotten hundreds of kills with it and works a treat, its not the size of the gun nor tank but its how you use it. Works great bait to, with dual guardians you can get a defense of 4.5k this fit also gets 80k ehp not to mention its low sig radius, if you know how to fly and use it its awesome, i traditionally use it to warp to a camp kill tackle, deagro and jump same with station games, its also good for taking out frig gangs.
Can take all frigs as well as most recons with the curse and pilgrim being the exception.
H: 5 medium pulse laser II (sml guns)
M: AB scram web - all t2
L: 2x 1600mm RT plat, 2x T2 EANMS, DCU II and small repper
R: 3x trimarks
If you pimp this including HG slave set you can get 220k ehp.

I've skipped cruisers with my alt and gone straight for BattleCruisers - HarBinger is very strong, though not very fast, perfect for piracy stuff. ---
