Nah. Sour grapes can be distilled into something (mildly) useful. The OP, on the other hand, might give you the headache but not the buzz. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I've never gotten anything more than a slap on the wrist. Renters = slaves that pay you money for the privilege of being slaves. It's not piracy, its surprise PVP. |

I guess we just see the game differently.
No required pvp, no 2000idiot lag fests, small pvp with our corp if we feel like it. The same amount of tax we would be paying anyway.
Compared to the *****es of a 50yr old grocery bagboy. Pay taxes, required to do what they tell you. Lag out. Sit in position for hours.
You think the fact that we don't help you at all and just do what we want somehow causes us to care about who you are nameless alliance rube? We stay in our home systems and tell whatever nameless alliance whoever that kicks you out, hello, leave us alone/

Okay renters are essentially used to develop sov that the larger alliances have not yet got the numbers to utilise fully. not only that but the you get to pay for the privilege. Be assured that if you step out of line for even a moment that these large alliances will remove you or ask one of their smaller non renting allies do it for them in return for your former space.
Your rent does not buy security. I have helped kick out a renting alliance as part of a smaller yet expanding subsidiary alliance. We spend a week pew pewing. And we double our sov. Only isk payed out is in ships. Even then worth it in long term. Even if you are allowed your own tcu's bear in mind that the sov is only yours superficially. The first sign of dissent or a better offer come along and you will be told to leave.

It all depends on what you want.
Agreed that most Alliance leadership is uptight and unseasoned when it comes to leadership, but then again there is no real qualifiaction to become one in this game... its a game. This lack of real leadership skill ends up in overblown mandates and silly emails asking why you didn't login X day or why you didn't log-off if you were AFK and blah blah blah.
In the end though - they have to be kind of like that since the SOV mechanics suck.

Actually from and individual standpoint it makes good sense. After playing the game on-and-off since release, the only thing that really attracts me to 0.0 any more is the isk making opportunities. I used to view alliance membership as a necessary evil, but joining a renter corp / alliance actually makes good sense here. All the joys of 0.0 without any of the grief of large scale fleet ops, PoS bashing, et all = bliss.
Perhaps its not quite as secure as being in a member corp, but its certainly a lot less hassle day-to-day.

Edited by: Widemouth Deepthroat on 11/01/2011 17:22:25 Renting is all good if all you want to do is pve (ie pve alt). No idea why anyone would subscribe to Eve if all they want to do is pve (you sound like that is all you do).

^ qft If you're looking for fun , colorful PVE content you can do much better than EVE .... thats not a total knock on CCP ... its enormously expensive to do that sort of thing.. its like a big budget hollywood movie and big time sink or swim rolls of the dice, and a need to completely do it over again every 12 to 18 months.

Who, the OP or me? Well if its me then its not true, I quite like a bit of PvP but I just dont like all the stupid alliance politics, lag fest ops and PoS bashing. I much prefer PvP on my own terms, small to medium sized roaming ops, which personally I find much more fun to play.

Renting allows you the perks of 0.0 isk making so you can build up your wallet, that way you can PvP without having to depend on a large corp // alliance. No drama, just fun.
Basically you have to pick your evil.
Either it's grinding a lot to afford to pvp on your terms
Or
Put up with a lot of political drama by joining a large corp and getting free stuff. (still involves some grinding, but a bit less).
I'll take option 1 anyday.
