I just bought 2 Deimoses and since I'll be able to fly them in a few days I was wondering if anyone had any good setup ideas. I'm thinking about making one a close range boat, with 6 heavy ion blasters II and one with 5-6 250mm railguns II . Midslot mainly cap rechargers II and low slots hardeners, armor repairer and perhaps an RCU II or PDU II unit. What I wanted to know is if these setups are possible with the current grid/cpu and how they are working out for those few deimos users out there. Any ideas for a different setup perhaps?

Edited by: Farjung on 21/01/2005 15:31:04 Deimos has 5 turret hardpoints by the way, so you'll need to bear that in mind.
From playing around with fitting numbers a while back I think I came up with
5 x Heavy Electron Blaster II 1 x Med. Nos (named for lower cpu)
10MN MWD II 7.5km scram (named pref) Web (named pref)
Med rep II Energized adaptive nano II Armor explosive hardener I (named pref) 2 x Mag Field Stab II 1 x Cap power relay
Fairly sure that all fits, this is just a theoretical fit though so I'm sure someone who owns one of these beasts can give you better advice than I can. Bit of flexibility in the low slots, perhaps drop the explosive hardener or energized adaptive nano for another damage mod/cap power relay/t2 backup.
Edit, just checked and it's a bit of a squeeze on the cpu, but it gets there:
5 x Heavy Electron Blaster II 1 x Medium Diminishing Power System Drain I
10MN Microwarpdrive II Faint Epsilon Warp Prohibitor Fleeting Propulsion Prohibitor
Medium Armor Repairer II Energized Adaptive Nano II N-type Armor Explosive Hardener I Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Capacitor Power Relay I
Should leave you with 43 grid free, and 21.75 CPU, enough to switch a heavy electron II with a modal ion if you so desired I think. Whether you would want to or not would probably depend on your level of medium blaster specialization.
Someone really needs to keep me away from the Taranis |

Edited by: Kyroki Tirpellan on 21/01/2005 14:19:39 I've never flown as much as a gallante cruiser (and propably never will), but I still know that the Deimos only has 5 turret slots.

I like this setup, My character has 20mill sp. so fitting this equipment is not a problem. How about a rail setup though, I'm dying to try that out. Any suggestions on that one? Finally are there any cap issues with the deimos?

if you wanna use a mid range HAC train for a zealot. A deimos is a pure up close dmg dealing beast, meant to be used with blasters imo

Hull: Thorax Class Role: Heavy Assault Ship Sharing more tactical elements with smaller vessels than with its size-class counterparts, the Deimos represents the final word in up-close-and-personal cruiser combat. Venture too close to this one, and swift death is your only guarantee. Developer: Duvolle Labs Rumor has it Duvolle was contracted by parties unknown to create the ultimate close-range blaster cruiser. In this their engineers and designers havenÆt failed; but the identity of the companyÆs client remains to be discovered.

Could always try 250mm Railgun II or Dual 150mm Railgun II on an Ishtar + 15 heavy drones ... that's got to be a-hurtin'

Hush, no multiple nos's on Deimos. Oh no no no no.
2 Nos and a Cap Neutraliser is better btw. I've heard. Maybe.

You don't need that many cap relays. The cap recharge is pretty damn quick anyway, I only use 1 cap relay and I've never run out of cap when fighting. Just remember you aren't using your MWD as soon as you are in weapon range as you won't hit for ****. Then it's all gravy.
If you use 2 PDU 2's you won't run out either.

They were talking about on an Ishtar.
As they said, I think rails are better on an Ishtar.
