Edited by: Ehnea Mehk on 12/01/2011 22:35:04 Hello!
Odatrik Integrated Solutions is pleased to announce our second Ore-A-Thon (formerly called Odatrik Ore-A-Thon) will be held during the entire run of HUlkageddon 4 this February.
Our first Ore-A-Thon (http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1349686) ran from July 9th to July 18th, 2010 as a counter-Hulkageddon event celebrating and supporting the mining and industrial community of New Eden. The objective of the first event was to mine and sell as much ore during Hulkageddon III. In the end, 41,088,914.66 ISK of ore was mined and sold. While that may not seem like a lot, it should be noted we were only using T1 frigates and industrial ships to mine, and this was done by a then 3-person corporation of new players with low mining skills.
The objective of the second Ore-A-Thon is to mine and sell 60,000,000 ISK, our "gold objective" of the first Ore-A-Thon we failed to reach. As with the first Ore-A-Thon, we will maintain a running total on our website at http://odatrik.guildportal.com. As suggested by one player, Julius Rigel, during our first Ore-A-Thon, we are inviting other players and corporations to join us. This is why we dropped "Odatrik" from this second Ore-A-Thon. We want this to be a New Eden event, not an Odatrik event.
For those who want to participate in this event, it's quite simple. All you need to do is keep a running total of how much ore you sold, and either a) maintain that total on your website or in the forums, or b) let us display your total along with your player name (or your corporation's name) on our website. There is no cost or obligation in participating. What you sell is all yours to keep.
Some notes and disclaimers:
- If you decide to mine in our event during Hulkageddon 4, you have agreed to accept the increased risk of either losing a ship or being podded -- particularly if you use barges, exhumers, orcas, industrials or freighters (the last two are new targets for Hulkageddon 4). Odatrik Integrated Solutions is not responsible for any podding or lost ships during this event.
- On the heels of the first point, fly with what you can afford to lose. As with the first Ore-A-Thon, Odatrik Integrated Solutions has chosen to fly level T1 frigates and industrials to minimize the risk of being targeted and the cost of a lost ship if we are targeted. We suggest you follow our example if you have any concerns about participating in this event.
- Any players who agree to work together to raise their own ore sold totals are responsible for their own agreements. Odatrik Integrated Solutions is not responsible for any agreements made outside our membership.
- Be careful with who you team with. It is possible the person you are mining with could be a spy for a ganker fleet looking for targets.
Where possible, this thread will be updated with additional information as we get closer to Hulkageddon 4.
Thank you! Ehnea Mehk ODATRIK Integrated Solutions |

Where exactly is the achievement you are so proud of ehnea? Of having mined in T1 frigs during a week where every "ganker" was looking for mining barges?!?
Your ships were not even targets of the Hulkageddon. I read a lot of your "Odatrik-Ore-a-Thon" and it¦s a real pitty how you celebrate your strange understanding of having succeeded during hulkageddon.
I know it might be wrong to even write one single word about it, but your enduring disorientation in Eve Online really makes me sick. If just one of u guys would have had a hulk or even a retriever during you ore-a-thon i would be the last person in eve not to congratulate to your 40 million u made, but by flying t1 frigs you simply can¦t celebrate it like this. Maybe you should think about this, step your game a little bit and fly some mining barges during the next hulkageddon.
THEN you might have something to be proud of. . .

I did not reply to this before because I am running my own hulkageddon related event, http://griefer-geddon.blogspot.com However as I have decided to mine in my bait hulk again to see if anyone will bite this time, I will keep track of the ore mined instead of right-click selling bits of it in every .5 system this side of the caldari border zone like I had last 2 times. I appreciate the symbolism of a hulkageddon mining event and the show of solidarity with my fellow miners. Even if it means paying attention to the results of t1 miners running without mlu's.

Melittaman, thanks for your comments.
To fly a Hulk or any vessel listed on Helicity's Hulkageddon scorecard is stupid. Anyone in my corporation who pulled a stunt like that, especially if it was funded by my corporation's ISK, would find their butt out the front door. Flying a target vessel just gives the gankers a "lulz" and a mark on their scorecard. To have you suggest someone fly a Hulk while everyone else in EVE Online are practically screaming "keep your ORE ships at home" shows it is you, not I, who is suffering "disorientation in Eve Online". You don't make me sick with that statement, but I would not want to work for you if you ran a corporation. Your grasp of the reality of EVE is shaky at best and shocking at worst.
Our Ore-A-Thon, as a I said, is a celebration and support of the mining and industrial community of EVE. It is also a demonstration to show you CAN still mine and do so profitably even in a dangerous time like Hulkageddon if you are smart about it. It is not, as you mistook our event to be, a challenge to Hulkageddon: It is a counter-event. Those are two different things. If we wanted it to be a challenge, we would have jumped into assault frigates and joined other events listed in this forum to gank the gankers in turn.
Apparently you never attempted in your EVE experience to try to push the limits of the tech you have at your disposal. Mining 40 million ISK in a Hulk, even a retriever is child's play. Try doing that with a fleet of bursts. Try doing that between 10 and 12 hours a day in shifts during the H3 event. Try scheduling and organizing the many players flying wreathes and hoarders to pick up the ore and sell it at the scheduled time (without getting ripped off, which did happen at times). That's hard. And we ARE proud we were able to accomplish this.
And to put the final strike in your flimsy argument, just because the gankers did not go after T1 frigates and other craft does not mean we were safe. Pehk Mak'mel'ahma received an accidental EVEmail meant for someone else suggesting our corporation should be attacked in future for holding our event. We posted that very letter on our website a while back. There were attempts at intimidation during our Ordatrik Ore-A-Thon in July (target locking, bumping of our industrials receiving the jetcans), including one example that I am convinced began the chain of events that lead to an alliance WARDECing us in August. To quote an important saying you apparently have forgotten, "There is no safe place in EVE".
You are not wrong to write a single word about what we do. In fact, I welcome it to challenge it here in the forums and in-game. But understand that not everyone shares your opinion. We already have others who have wished us good luck and are considering running similar mining events.
EVE is a sandbox. There is no wrong way to play the game. And this is my event, and my corporation. Both will proceed as planned, with or without your approval.
Again, thanks for writing.

It was not my intention to be sarcastic in iether post. I was honestly trying to support your event while running mine as I wasn't aware they were incompatible. I was at the same time advertizing my event. I also wanted to counter the attacking post by presenting a supportive one. Having realized mining in a hulk disqualifies me I pulled out. I do not engage in smack talk since I don't enjoy it. Hence I did not respond to the accusation of stupidity as I did to the perception of sarcasm when support was intended. That avoidance in the second post may be called sarcasm I suppose but that was not my intent. Fly safe.

Here is the evemail Ehnea referred to. I can't find the website post that came with it, but it was sent in response to our first Ore-A-Thon.
I found this evemail amusing but not surprising. Most players make fun of miners, even though mining is the first thing you do when you join EVE Online. It's also the easiest way to make ISK, though I admit (as a "carebear" miner) it is not the best way. Go salvage or be a pirate if you want to earn lots of ISK.
My own response to Melittamann's post is a shrug. I've heard this all before and went ahead anyways with what I do. I applaud Ehnea's excellent response, but I wouldn't have bothered to write it. EVE Online is a range of extremes, so someone will always disagree with what you choose to do.
It's just the namecalling in this post (which wasn't offensive) that I found silly.
Pehk.
P.S. Mechanoid Kryten, visited your link yesterday and I think what you are organizing is great. I'll check your killboard in addition to Helicity's during Hulkageddon.

Whoa, I think Ehnea may have gone a tad off the deep end in the replay to Mechanoid.
You are both on the same side but have different tactics, and skill levels help to dictate those tactics.
Now, to my question about the event. Are scythes allowed? I got a couple characters that could fly some and throw out a bit of firepower at the same time. :)

Hi Worgen.
My response was hardly "off the deep end". I rarely wish people good luck with a smiley when I am angry at them. Take a look at my reply to "Melittamann" for a better example, though even that was mellow in comparison to my past snipes.
As I wrote in my first post of the thread, you are welcome to fly whatever you like. You can even use industrials or exhumers, but you are painting a bulls-eye on yourselves. Just be careful if you do. We do not want to see anything happen to those players that decide to join us.
We decided to hold ourselves to low-end ships to reduce our value as targets. A Scythe is a good mining ship and I may even bring mine out if we get far behind in our schedule.

Gosh, the idiocy typed out in post 6 along with the denial in the followup post makes me desire to approach Helicity Boson and to fund special prizes for killing your corp. Don't mind me, just a random person laughing at you. Here, let me put a smiley face in here to make it all better: All good? Great.

All good. As for the line up to kill my corp? Been there, done that, big alliance, August 4-18 2010, and still standing. And no, I didn't get a T-shirt.
Definately not paying you any mind, but my question to you is, "why hide behind Helicity?"

It is your choice not to attend this event. No one is twisting your arm to sign up. There are plenty of spots available in both the Hulkageddon Orphanage and Mechanoid Kryten's griefergeddon if that is your interest. I wish you well in whatever you choose.
But to come in here and show such venom towards a harmless mining event during Hulkageddon 4, and suggest a prize to "kill our corp" to use Helmer's words for holding this event?
You may have a disagreement with this event, that's fair. But it's being drowned out by the poor behaviour some of you are demonstrating in this thread today.

Perhaps 'stepping up the game' would be not to use the ships that are the target of Hulkageddon nor use the t1 frigates. the middle finger could be put up using t1 cruisers and battlecruisers despite the fact that they're far less efficient. You can put up a fight, if aggressed, in addition to mining (and ratting) out in the belts. just have to watch out for your haulers ... Just don't forget to equip a point!
good luck with this event. I only mine out in null-sec these days. it's like hulkageddon *all the time* out here

Hi, Grintau.
Thanks for offering a great suggestion. Some of us do fly T1 battlecruisers (not I, though) and cruisers. I fly a Scythe, and it can be fitted for both mining (it's a great mining ship) and protection. And if I lose it, it's not a big deal.
I'm liking this idea a lot. Okay, I'll fly my Scythe during H4.
Good luck with your adventures in nullsec space. Hope you are doing well where you are.

Yes, Ansgar Thorulf, I am quite capable of talking for myself. unlike some people who must hide behind a portraitless alt to mock. And no, you did not sell this alt as you claimed. We checked.
While I doubt you are sincere in wishing us luck, I do want to thank you for your inane posts. It has kept this thread visible on page 1 of the list. The best advertising I didn't have to pay for and it offered some comic relief.

I like this event. It's a nice change from hearing other people whine about how Hulkageddon is so unfair. I give the OP some credit for creativity.
But this thread has spiraled into a soap about stalker-guy playing "where's Waldo?", while the OP defends his log-on record. And apparently these two have history.
Forum politics: love it
I still like the idea of this event, even with the silly arguing. I also like Grintau's comment about giving the "middle finger", so I'm offering a few middle fingers of my own. Not what you think.
OIS has 5 Mammoths waiting in the Reset system to use in their mineathon, free of charge and with Expanded Cargohold IIs.
