People may remember the boost in numbers we got this time last year when PC Gamer (UK) gave away two week free trial of EVE with the magazine...
Well they have done it again. Picked up this month's copy today and it comes with Exodus and some other stuff on the cover disc.
So get ready for another flood of newbies in the next few weeks \0/

On a side note, I cancelled my subscription to PC Gamer today. Don't like it anymore, theyre so biased and not at all thorough (sp?).

I've always wondered why the UK version of PC gamer liked Eve so much but the US version apears to turn a blind eye to it.
Oh well, new players are always good.

I started this game with a 14 day trial from the Norwegian Pc gamer Magazine. Of course i messed up in the registration process and subscribed for a full version of the game instead. This was on the 23d of January 2004. Well to make a long story short, i'm still here and in 2 days i have been playing this game for 1 year.

BATTLESTATIONS!

Nice to hear your stories and I'm glad you're all still aboard. EVEs been getting progressively better each time we get a new influx of players onboard and I think the community is to thank for that more than anything else.
A big welcome to the new EVE citizens and a big thank you to the veterans who have made our universe what it is.

Well the influx of new players won't be as big as before, regular subscribers to pcgamer(uk) already have tried it and when it was done the first time there wheren't buddy trials of 2 weeks. So someone who was interested in the game already would have gotten a free buddy trial already, whereas compared to the old situation the pc gamer was the only way to get a 2 week trial.

Agreed with the above.
No doubt what so ever that the free trial/coverdisk bought in shed loads to eve last year, but likes said, this time if any (wow around, pc gamer pimped it hard) don't expect near as much, if any....

Hope you get the node droppes and fleet lag sorted before any influx of new players, the servers can't seem to handle the numbers that come on now, let alone after an 'extensive marketing campaign' ------------

Some PR in Australia would definately be good.
On a more serious note, instead of having a BBQ at Omber's place, have one at mine - the weather in Sydney is much better than in Melbourne

We've just been speaking to one of the new players on a PCG trial. He's played the game before but didn't stick with it. He's using the trial to see whats new and hopefully stay longer this time around.
So maybe some will be open minded enough to give things another go. |
