We are currently aware of latency issues on the EVE API which is due to a high load on our database. Our teams are working to resolve this matter as soon as possible and until then the API may have high loading times. This should not affect any other systems.
We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Hi everyone,
The load on the database hosting the API has dropped to a stable level at this point. You might still see the occasional spike, but we will continue to monitor the situation.
Please let us know if you have any further problems.
Thanks in advance, Stillman

Do you know what caused the issue?
Looked like a bad case of heavy load caused it.

Or it could have been a bad case of high load.
Still having API issues though.

The cause of the API latency is entirely unrelated to the crash of Tranquility.
While it might seem obvious that they're related, the database that was causing the latency for the API isn't the one hosting Tranquility.

Is this the first time that CCP has claimed that at least one of their systems will not fail cascade when the game-centered database goes Tango Uniform? That's incredible. Next, CCP will be tell us that they have fail-over and redundant systems in-place for when Tranq decides to take its next nose-dive. Stay tuned!

We were just teasing
On a serious note, I have looked in all the usual places that I can think of but can't seem to find any info regarding lastnights almost instant failure of EVE. Some are saying it was a fault on your database again while others are saying it was a dropout on part of the network infrastructure that allows us to connect to TQ.
Would you or someone else from CCP care to fill us in on what happened please?
