Greetings!
I am Mas Cream. An anagram for "A Scammer". I am the sole member of Monetary Allocation Certified Securities Inc., which backwards, the initials spell "I SCAM"
I watched with interest at the Market Discussion forum on how some folks would spend hours making a very believable IPO and round up billions in isk, only to be exposed down the road as a scammer. The amount of ours put into lying really boggled me. Heck. some of the scams is what drew some people to Eve Online. Even through all that, there are some honest IPOs.
Less than two weeks ago I started the most obvious scam-IPO that I possibly could On the Market Discussions Forum, hours after I started a thread on which red flags make an IPO look like a scam.
I had a less-than-one-day-alt start the IPO. I gave no explanation what I was going to do with isk given to me. I would not expose my main. I didn't allow an auditor. I even gave myself this fabulous name and corp ticker! My first buyer was obviously connected with me. The list of red flags go on. I even dropped new red flags down the road, such as asking for Bhaalgorn fits on the Ships forum and a poll for creating 1,000 new shares (while I was still majority shareholder).
In less than two weeks I have raised 2.8 Billion isk.
True, less than what some of the bigger scams have pulled in. However, take into account how obvious of a scam this IPO was, and I STILL GOT 2.8 BILLION ISK! I guess though Chapter 11 really helped, but what gets me is so few people really have challenged or discussed it, that I'm not sure it really helped all that much.
That's not the the best part.
So far everyone that invested in the first 7 days already received 100% dividends - they pretty much got their entire investment returned to them. Everyone who invested after that but before Sunday have received 50% of their investment back. I've provided a screenshot showing I still have all their isk in a corp wallet.
So the point ?
This is Eve Online's first Fake Scam.
Or is it ? I mean it's still going on and it seems 50% of the people that convo me in game are "stating the obvious" that it's a Ponzai scheme.
Time will tell. Point is, I find it amusing and maybe others will to, but you gotta goto the Market Discussion thread to really see it all!
I do bet isk though we'll see more obvious "fake scam" copy cats after this.

Whenever you say things like this, you tend to teeter between "I just scammed you!" and "It totally looks like I'm gonna scam you but I'm not!"
Freaks me out. It's pretty awesome though.

Look, if you have managed to make money on it then it worked so it should be appreciated. It pays for 8 monts of EVE subscripton so it's not bad at all.

OK. In the meantime could you just send me my ISK now? That way I could invest it and split the interest with you next week. (I was thinking of investing a billion or so in your fine venture)

I do have to say its quite funny to keep hearing folks scream it's a scam, and yet they haven't read beyond the first three paragraphs of the entire IPO post.
In game, I had one person take the time to personally insult me for being beyond stupid, and after he read the second post he actually invested 50 million isk (the maximum).
The lack of reading comprehension is the cancer killing /ingameboard.asp?a=channel&channelID=3519/ or something like that.
