I have spreadsheets and outlook managing my whole life, you are best off using outlook for schedules, as for household expenses just make your own

Well, the first spreadsheet would be extremely simple to begin with (just a list of cash in/out) and differing heavily from household to household, so it's really no big deal to just make it yourself. As for the second, I'm not sure I understand what you mean, it's not like you would want to constantly rotate whatever duties somebody has and you could quantify them in terms of manhours or whatever, so it would be simpler to just assign person X chores Y and Z "manually". _

Edited by: Red Vector on 17/01/2011 19:17:16 Green Panda Tree House have some nice free spreadsheets for excel for various personal & household daily / weekly / monthly budgets. I used some of them for managing my money while at university. It's also pretty easy to edit them to make some nice looking timetables, I suppose you could do the same to divide up household work too.
edit: link fail

I use MS Money to track my finances, but it's not available any more sadly.
I'd go for Gnu Cash if I didn't have MS Money:

I don't know if you have a Morgage, but I also use a spreadsheet from these people to check out "what ifs":

There are a ton of templates on that site that should do everything you want, in Excel form (you mention spreadsheets, I'm assuming Excel, but a lot are also available for Open Office)
For day to day management of your family tasks, there's a whole chunk (take the link above and scroll down):
