Name something that was innovative about eve in 2010? Further proof that these "awards" are just a pile of steaming camel turd!

Because the link in the title didn't tip you off? Game of the year. Most Innovative.
The reason for "most innovative"? PI. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Thanks. I sprayed my orange juice all over my keyboard because of that. If PI had been what they'd said they wanted it to be, then I'd agree.

mmorpg.com ain't exactly a tough crowd. The site is rife with EVE fanbois. If you say anything critical about the game they flag it as a troll and delete the post. This award is about like winsupersite.com giving Windows 7 an 'Operating System of the Year' award.

It's not like EVE has a lot of competition...
WOW - but it hasn't really changed much or improved as far as I've heard over the past years. No good si-fi mmo out there yet. There naturally is STO, but that's for STO fans only, nobody else will get interested in that world of "beam me up, scotty". The only connections between STO an EVE are - the are both in space and they have the guy called "scotty", but in EVE he's just the docking manager.
Other promising MMOs... Dark Prophecy, but it's still in closed beta so not included... Maybe when it finally gets out of beta OR they start giving out beta keys on a more normal fashion I will try it.
On the other hand, I love eve, I love how few bugs I encounter as long as I avoid huge 0.0 warfare in blobfests, I love how I can play the game endlessly and still not feel bored. If I got an offer, today, to go to iceland and start working for them for some real money, I would.

That's mainly it.
Look at the other contestants and see what they did, and consider how many games weren't even on the list because they did sfa to innovate (and no, creating more of the same or being really innovative 6 years ago doesn't count).
PI, for all its horrendous faults actually did change things up a fair amount in EVE. It completely revamped part of the market, it included completely new (admittedly anemic) gameplay, it included new mechanics that weren't just a carbon copy of old manufacturing, it caused a huge upsurge in mouse salesà So it certainly did things and added stuff to EVE that hadn't been there before.
àbut it tells us far more about why the MMO market is so lacking in choice than it tells us about how great a game EVE is. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

heh, I'll admit that 2010 sucked for gaming in general, that's why the (2010 in general) option won the greatest disappointment award and (none of the above) won the best new game award.
Congrats CCP for winning the best game award during the worst year of gaming
