I DL'ed the patch...waited for it to apply and then got this msg::
"The update was downloaded but it failed verification indicating that the file is corrupt. Would you like to download the file again?
You will not be able to enter the game until you download the update."

Did you go the manual route or use the game's own auto-downloader? ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

Right have people not learnt anything from the patches? NEVER EVER download the patch first. Wait a few hours, check the forums, see people (like you) crying over BOOT.INI or something else, laugh at the impatient, download later risk and problem free.

Windows 7 x64 steam installation. I already tried deleting cache/settings with no help, and I ran the repair tool, no improvement.

I used the auto-updater, waited 30 mins to download the patch, installed patch, and finally launched eve with no issues with the patching process. Can't play right now since CCP is not allowing connections to Tranquility.

I downloaded the manual patch also but it won't let me patch over the existing folder, says its already installed with the latest version and upto date.
So i'm going to just delete all local content and install fresh from steam to see what happens, all downloading today has been super fast so thats one less thing to worry about for me.

Hello,
We are currently investigating this issue. It would be really helpful if you could file a bug report, including information on your ISP and download speed.
Thanks in advance!

The patch failed for me at first as well, but then I noticed that it requires just short of 2 GB of free space on my tiny C: partition for the actual patching process after download.

ISP AND DOWNLOAD SPEED??? rotfl
Here's some interesting read which might be new to some, quoted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TCP/IP_model
"Robustness Principle: "In general, an implementation must be conservative in its sending behavior, and liberal in its receiving behavior. That is, it must be careful to send well-formed datagrams, but must accept any datagram that it can interpret"
Stop questioning about unreliable connections when your own non-robust implementation of patch deployment is to be blamed! It's 2010. Fetching some file from the Internet should not be something magic anymore.

Downloaded via the in-game updater, got the corruption error.
Tried again. Corrupt.
Guess I'll stop wasting my time and try the torrent.

While it might sound weird. According to CCPs updater, I'm downloading at twice the speed I should have for my internet. Sadly I have a 1.5 mb connection, and the updater says I'm downloading at almost 3 mb.
I'm wondering if I will end up with a corrupted version as well. Either that or my ISP screwed up and doubled my speed for no extra charge

Better to blame Microsoft:
Originally by: MSDN BITS guarantees that the version of the file it transfers is consistent based on the file size and time stamp, not content (BITS does not protect against man-in-the-middle attacks).
Likely this means it uses UDP or something similar to transfer data (less overhead, but no checksums for each datagram). It would be nice if MS used the torrent model of breaking the file into reasonable sized chunks (512KB, 1MB, 2MB, etc) before transferring them via UDP/IP, so checksums can be used per piece rather than after the whole file is downloaded.

I get the same error (SHA1 error) when applying the patch. Downloaded manually and got the error, then applied it in-game and got the error as well. I am trying a third time but hopes are low that third time's a charm.
