Right this is the 2nd time this has happened to me so I thought I'd post about it to see if anyone else is experiencing this.
Both times it has happened on a level 3 Pirate Extravaganza. After clearing the 3rd wave I use the acceleration gate and it seems to drop me out of warp "early".
I am able to move around but ALL the targets are at 19,800m away from me. I cannot lock on them, I cannot fly towards them but they can shoot me. I flew around for a few minutes then decided I had to warp back and try again. It wouldnt let me.
Only thing I could do was log off the game. If this had happened on a level 4 then I would have lost a battleship. Had to fly through the first 3 levels again.
Anyone else had this?

This is actually not due to buggy mission code, this would seem to be a low level problem with the dungeon code. I suggest you submit a bug report if you haven't already, I actually haven't heard about this problem before myself.

Edited by: JoeSomebody on 23/01/2005 04:57:25 I think i know what you problem is, as I always have similar thing in ganza mission. Thing is that is prolly due to lag client and server go out of sync, and your ship displayed in one location, while server thinks that it in a different one and complains when you try to target things that are clearly out of range.
I have seen that many times and have screenshots of my missles starting their path like 50km away from my current position (the way I see it). And drones refusing to attack Silo at 5th location due to it being out of range, while im basicaly scratchin it with my hull.
So answer to your question is: yes, ganza mission is indeed bugged
EDIT: Zrakor well maybe then you should read this thread

Edited by: Lebowske on 23/01/2005 08:06:38 Yes, I've seen this bug.
Using two characters on the same computer - and from time to time I happen to bump the other char. The char can be bumped anything from 5Km to 1000Km
It seems like the server-side doesnt detect this properly. On the char been bumped, it will appear at this new position, while the first char will still see it very close.
Example: 1) Char-A bumps Char-B. Char-A watches Char-B go 60 km out. Char-B's screen shows only a small bump, and end up 5Km from Char-A. Char-A still sees Char-B in 60 km distance.
2) A rat spawns 5 Km from Char-A. Char-A and Char-B locks up rat. (Char-B client still thinks it's in locking range, so it allows locking). Char-A hits the rat normally. Char-B get's a message saying something like "you're not able to target/fire at object at 55000 meter, max sensor range is 53000 meter".

I think you are seeing some of the same "server/clientside" positioning bug - and I think even this may explain some of the reports from pre-exodus where people claimed that they were fired upon during warp and after a warp away from NPC's.
---
I haven't bothered to bug report this since the bug report doesn't allow large enough uploads - my logs are big ... tried and failed with this trying to report other bugs. --------------------

I've had this bug after Exodus deployed - they fired at me in warp and while approaching the gate despite being 15 AU:s or something like that away. Had to save my battlecruiser by logging off - survived with 12% structure left . Luckily this has only happened once - very nasty though. ------------------------- "Real Men Hull Tank" CCP Hammer |

I find this happens to me mostly when my system clock is out of whack; I think sometimes because it was being reset and on the reset it would cause the client discrepency, and in the other case it was because my clock was too fast (for some reason the machine does not like running at 400mhz rather than 333, and in the former case you could physically see the clock ticking up faster than 1s per 1s, with the client perpetually going wrong... dropping back to 333 sorted it and the client runs perfectly ever since).

Yup, had that a few times as well. Think I did the same as you once. On other occasions its enough to to minimize overwiev and put it back up.

Donno if it's the same problem and not in that mission, but when I have had it, I have pressed RESET CAMERA, and it works not the first time but the second.

I have seen this problems many times, in fact, since I run multiple accounts, I see it at least once per day when mining (normally 5-10 times a day). For me it is not a huge problem and is often caused by bumping another ship. After bumping my clients says I am 1km from a can I am mining into but I can't open it as I am 20kms away. I can then do an approach, on my client my ship does not appear to move as it thinks I am next to the can but, eventually, on the server I get close enough to the can and I can open it again (I try to open the can every 30 seconds or so until I am in range all the while my client says I am 0 metres from the can).
I have also heard of a much more *SERIOUS* problem with this bug.
Someone was about to fight rats in a belt and decides to warp out instead of engaging. The client enters warp and the client appears to have warped away. However the belt had scrambling inties and on the server the inties had locked and scrambled the player. So on the server the player is still in the belt getting hammered and just sits there. The client thinks he is 10 AU away and they have still got a lock on the rats shooting them and the rats have a distance (according to the client) of many AU's (As a side note could the devs have given the projectiles some love that let them shoot with a range of many AU's ). So the client is getting hammered but when they try to shoot back they get the message "The rats are out of range". I presume the client checks the range and, thinking the rats are out of range, does not bother telling the server. So what can the player do now...they can try and warp out..but no they are still scrambled. They can not shoot back, can not warp out and can not tank the spawn, so they lose their BS :(
I believe someone has posted more info on this in another thread a while ago (I replied to it with more info that I have had from my experiences), but the poster of the thread was accussed of whining cause he lost a BS - I had some sympathy for the player though as I could not see a way out of it :(
