This char wore a hood while taking the pictures, now it shows him without hood - at the login screen, ingame and in the forums too.

This leaves me with a problem then. I only want to redo my avatar b/c I'm missing a hood. Do I wait for a fix that will miraculously fix the problem? Or redo & hope to somebody's god that it works? Perhaps NOT picking a hood will do it lol..
I'm thinking I should save it & wait a few weeks.

Yah. I redid it to make my character's eyes open again... and now I have a hood. This is incredibly frustrating.

This is incredibly frustrating, I created my character with a hood and it disappeared the second time I logged in. Its not enough CCP decided to not include the Red robes but now I dont have a hood at all this has truely annoyed me.

Oh and btw: my portrait don't have the hood on the login screen.

Edited by: OblivionDawn on 22/01/2011 04:55:06 I'm also missing the hood I had in the creator.
Pretty annoying, considering the hood is the whole reason I re-re-created my character portrait.

Edited by: Mastin Dragonfly on 22/01/2011 08:22:55 My in game portrait is nothing like what I made him. I made an asian guy with long black hair and a shody beard and ended up caucasian with a hood...
edit: oh, here it shows the correct face, but still with an added hood.

First time I created my avatar I put a hood on it and it disappeared... then I read about the redo of character and hoped it would solve my problem. Now I have recreated my character and spend a lot more time on him as I wanted it to look just like I wanted... gave him a hood, log in everything is fine. Log in next day no hood anymore, seriously whats up!

Here is a step-by-step description of my problem:
When I first made my 3D avatar, I chose a hood and it was there when I logged in that first day. The next day I logged in the hood showed on the character selection screen, but when I logged in his hood disappeared and he was bald.
When I got the free re-customization, I made another character with a hood, and it was there when I logged in. That was yesterday. When I logged in today it showed on the character selection screen, but when I logged in, it somehow changed back to the old one I had made previously, that lost its hood.
My new avatar, with the hood, shows both on the forums and on the character selections screen, but when I log in I have my old one, that used to have a hood, but doesn't now.

This above and after cleaning the cache the char with the hood in the initial log in screen vanished as well

Not sure if you guys are watching other threads, but...

Because on the web server my re-customized characters hair is clipping through her shoulder badly, however this appears to not be happening (Correctly) on the in-game variant.
Edit: It now appears to be doing it in-game as well! Now this is obviously not the intended look (Hair is supposed to flow over the body and not clip it!), is this an issue CCP is aware of, or do I need to petition to get myself re-rendered?
I'll answer this one because this will answer some other questions as well. We are rendering the images server side and use multiple levels on caching to make the images load faster. This caching introduces a delay into the process of making your characters appear on the web and this is what accounts for the up to two hours delay you can see on the forums. To reduce the confusion a little bit, the client also saves a snapshot of the image when you finish your new avatar, and keeps displaying this until our image server renders the image properly. This is the reason why you sometimes see slightly different images in the client and on the web... until the client figures out that a server side rendered version is available and starts using it.
As for the clipping problems: we are aware of various issues within the character rendering process, including clipping ones but also the much more obvious one with the disobeying Amarrian hoodies. We will re-render the corrupted images as soon as the bugs in our rendering servers will be patched properly. Petitioning your badly clipped hair won't help you much as computers are deterministic and will just come up with the same result if we don't change the underlying code.
