Edited by: Hexlander on 23/01/2005 02:17:01 Been playing around with this setup for a while, and managed to slip past a -8.1 pirate in a scorp. Heh, better luck nextime
High; 2x focused modulated pulse energy beam 1 -- (with Xray for close-up (13km) or Rads for long range (29km). 1x medium Nos I -- Keeps cap alive 1x Cloaking device. -- Helps with dodging or maneuvering away from a pirate, or anyone else you don't want to mess with...
Medium; 1x 10nm AB -- Makes the ship steam along about 300m/s 1x Sensor booster I -- Mainly to lower the blow from the cloak killing the scan resolution... 1x Cap recharge I
Low; 1x Small named armor rep. -- This keeps the flies from getting to happy 1x Medium named armor rep. -- Boost for any missiles or harder rats... 2x Hardeners -- Depending where you are hunting, Therm - Kin - Explo... 1x cap relay I
General tactic ideas; In low sec. space, always approach the biggest rat, I.E. Beast, Devourer. Then get the drones to handle the escorts, and Use the AB until you are within Nos range for the rat you are approaching. Once you are in range, stop the AB and Nos the target, for a nice energy anchor.
If you have to pull out, you've done something wrong, or launched the drones too late... Heh, I pulled out with 70% hull, launched drones too lateą 1 Beast and 4 butchers can do a lot of dmg to the armor if you're not paying attention...
As for traveling, especially in low sec space, if you see a player near a star-gate, no matter the sec lvl s/he may have, it's a good idea to cloak and creep towards the gate. I use an improved cloaking device, realignment time is just what you need between warps from gate to gate.
This ship is most likely a PvE ship. altho it might be formidable toward fellow cruisers. I havenĘt tried 0.0, thinking about it, I probably wonĘt unless I feel lil like doing a kamikaze run!
Estimated cost; 20mill, including an improved cloak. So more like below 10 mill with a proto cloak, but you have a ship can handle 3x cruiser rats at the same time and dodge anything you don't want to challenge.
Outfitting; Some ppl may have a bit of a bother with the power grid, you might want to try have 2 small armor reps instead of having 1 small and 1 med armor reps.

Use a 10mn ab (better manuvering) and just have a single med armor rep and put in another cap realay. You wont be able to run the armor rep 24/7 but it should suffice. and use EM drones against sansha's |

mistype with the 100nm AB.. sry.
Just about thinking on just doing 1 med rep too, but the med rep takes too long to re-fire so the small does an adequate job currently.
Just about thinking on ratio for drone types, EM - explo - and others.. --=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-- Power corrupts. Absolute power, corrupts absolutely!(\_/) 00B (0.0) License to kill (> r) Banging the Universe 1 by 1 "OH... BUNNY!" |

Why not just buy a maller? --------------------------

A maller can't swarm drones at escorts, nor does it have a missiles slot. Tru i'm using the missile slot, but hey, i can swarm 12 hammerheads at the rats, they are as affective as probably 2 mallers if you think about it... --=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-- Power corrupts. Edited by: Sangxianc on 23/01/2005 14:48:24 Everyone uses Mallers. That's what makes this a cool setup.

I like my Arb, 13 hammers (or a mix of) make a real mess of targets. Id say drop the Nos for a launcher though mate, Your lasers and hammers do nice em damage, maybe want a heavy launcher so u can vary your damage with kinetic and exp missiles.
pvp wise i swap my cruiser lasers for frig lasers, sensor booster and lots of drones, nice for camping gates, lil slow for much else. Vexor seems a lil better for pvp.

Surprisingly, I use an arbitrator for fleet anti frig in pvp, it tears down frigs fast
2xtech 2 med pulse, heavy limos, 5w neut ECM burst, X5 web, fleeting progressive medium accom rep, RCU, thermal N-type, kinetic N-type, 1600mm rolled tugston
its generally underestimated, and once a frig is web/scrambled just pop out 13 flavours of med drones and pwn a frig in seconds

The Arbitrator is a very nice point defence platform for PvP.
The 1600mm tungsten is highly recommended on that setup :) ----------------------------------------------

Okay the 1600mm armor is cool, but it will destroy your powersupply. I tried the 1600mm armor on a maller, which has more power, and all i could fit was some lousy small lasers. So on a arbi it will have a big impact. But that is just my opinion. -If the enemy is in range, so are you- |

Yeah i couldnt fit a 1600 on my Arb, though i can on Vexor and Maller. For pvp im more liely to fit small lasers on it anyway, better tracking vs inties. Thing is which smalls to fit, Pulse or Beam.

Yes, the Arbitrator is an underestimated ship. Besides, it looks really cool, IMO the best looking cruiser in eve. Im really looking forward to the T2 version.....
Imagine the Khanid style Arbitrator, with decent resists and more launchers. 3 launchers, 4-5 medslots and 3 lows....droool.....

Yeah im looking forward to that, one of the main reasons im tempted to train cruiser 5. I feel a lil sorry everytime i have to blow a Khanid Arb (Khanid Hawk i believe its called)up on agent missions as they look awesome. Amarr internal security missions mean killing khanid occasionally

I can't agree with you more, the Arbitrator is without doubt the nicest looking ship in game and I love it for PvP
Just noticed, you talk like there is going to be a tech 2 Arbi. I'd sincerely hope that's the case

I just got one of these boats. It's nice looking for sure. I have a question though, what is a good setup for non-cloaking rat hunting in low security space? I know the basics like high = weapons, mid = cap, and low = armor/relays but any specifics would be great. I am mostly fighting Sansha's rats so I will need a thermal and ?? hardener. I also think I should use beams what with the upcoming patch and all but I don't have any focused modulated ones, what's a good alternative? Thanks!

Edited by: Helmut 314 on 05/04/2005 10:04:59 Heres a fun suggestion:
High
2 x named light neutrons with antimatter 1 x assault launcher 1 x med nos/med smartbomb
med
10 mn ab II Medium cap battery II Webber
low
Medium rep II Cap relays Hardeners
Sort of a gallente-amarr hybrid ship. Pretty fun to fight in.
Or just make it a vampire tanker and let your drones do the persuading...

The grid on an Arbi is an irrelevance, as most of your firepower comes from drones, not your guns.

Edited by: Femlin Tilith on 05/04/2005 21:10:59 Here's the setup I am working with right now for level 3 missions.
HIGH- 2x gatling pulse laser II 1x heavy missile launcher 1x e50 energy drainer
MID- 1x F-B10 cap recharger 1x cap recharger I 1x 10mn AB II (just changed this)
LOW- 1x Thermal Hardener (ARMOR) 1x Explosive Hardener (ARMOR) 1x cap power relay 2x small repairer II's
What about this doesn't sound right? And what do I need to do to succeed at level 3 missions? Thanks!

* MWD does not work in deadspace, replace with AB * Small rep needs to be replaced by a medium * Switch hardeners according to the type of NPC you are killing
Consider replacing one cap recharger with a Medium cap battery II, helps a lot. 1600 or 800 mm armor plate gives you a nice buffer too.

I just got this baby and I love it, is there anything new I need to know about fitting it (other than the cap recharger) that needs to be changed?
Edit - for instance how does it work if I have this thing set up as a mini vamp domi?
I dont see many of these around and its a damned shame. Much more fun than the Maller imo.

Just noticed there seems to have been a ninja nerf on the arbi. It now has 1 turret, 1 missile, 4 hislots.
Why would they do that? The arbis power doesnt come from weapons, but still. o_O
