Edited by: Eternum Praetorian on 19/01/2011 13:53:29 Feature is awesome...
However, I just don't see how a team of (assumed to be) intelligent designers can sit around a table and say "Hmmm... Tattoos... there not that cool. we don't really need them."
Amarr Headdresses... "Nah. not unique to eve we can do away with that."
Caldari .. "Metal plates on face? nope, don't think we need that at all."
For all of it's awesomeness, allot of the outfit combination's presented to me made me feel like Eternum was about to go for a stroll at the mall in second life. This feature is EPIC CCP, but you lost some of what defines EVE as EVE In the translation.
So I Must Assume:
This character creation system was actually designed for (whatever that new game is that CCP is coming out with) you know, the one with vampires or something? And is in fact not a 100% original EVE Game design.
Oh well, it's a game improvement to be sure. Just really... no tattoos??? Sense... it makes none.

Most of what made a bloodline unique has been removed or changed.
I really like the new pictures they look fantastic and people are having fun, the problem is some of us chose specific bloodlines based on their old looks and are now locked into this new "redesigned look" that CCP has made.
I'm also unable to tell most of the bloodlines at a single glance now, a female Sebiestor looks like a Caldari Deteis now.
CCP should have made specific items and locked them to the bloodlines during character creation (based on how the old ones looked) and then when they released Incarna let people have new clothes etc. That way you could have the bloodlines and races stand apart and from an RP view they don't have a Caldari jacket on because they were borne into the republic and their photo was taken when they graduated to a capsuleer (hence why you start in your races schools).
Or they should have just made everything open to everyone and said "well this is how it is in the real world" I could rant for hours about this (I already have on the forums)so I'll stop now and say I am interested in seeing what if anything CCP do over the next few days and weeks.

I think that's a fair critique, and speaks to a larger issue IMO. While I must congratulate CCP on the technical achievement and range of quality content they've built into this character editor, I think it misses on an important level.
No doubt the old system produced some odd looking creatures, many tinged with the unique Icleandic Goth look that is CCP.
But it was more capable in two areas; affording players the tools to more effectively emote, and to visually reflect the things that are unique to the Eve universe (racial attributes).
The new system is producing a lot of stern looking serious characters that are in a sense much more generic in terms of range of mutation and expression.

so as a compromise lets give minmatars 1 boob, gallente 2 boobs, amarr 3 boobs and caldari 4 boobs?
Its a definate at-a-glance solution!
