Edited by: Xiozor on 19/01/2011 17:55:11 As many of you well know Seyllin was invaded by Sansha last night, the capsuleer response wasn't the strongest we have seen although it was significant, however Sansha deployed for the first time one of their Revenant class Super Carriers, and the firepower we had available was not nearly enough to overcome its defences before the 30 minutes which Sansha needed to complete their nefarious operation was up. Capsuleer pirate presence made claiming the field difficult as well.
However capsuleers, I think the problem here is that we are not thinking outside the box. We have become too reliant on the tried and tested tactics we have when taking on our conventional foes. Not every engagement can be won through brute force alone. No dedicated attempt was made to close the wormhole, the super-carriers only route of escape, through ECM. Nor did anybody think to bring along an Echelon to try and figure out exactly what was going on, a hint was given that doing so may have activated the Revenant's self-destruct sequence but instead we let a great opportunity slip through our fingers. CONCORD gave us these ships for a reason and we should use them to the best of our ability to combat this new threat.
All that said, the response fleet was surprisingly well organised and their performance admirable, quickly disposing of the super-carriers fighter drones before they could cause too much damage with most of our losses being to the Revenant's smartbombs. The fleet commander Wedgetail gave a good display of leadership and made all the right calls given the situation and I would happily fly under him again. ----------------------------------------------- Mr.Kippling just launched a nuclear holocaust at third world countries! ... It may require a drawing of straws to determine the "lucky" pilot who will fly such an "awe inspiring" ship.

I think I speak for most capsuleers when I say I would have happily been the one to be known as the first person to cause the destruction of a Sansha Supercarrier.
If only mine was remotely close to Seyllin maybe it would have worked out differently. ----------------------------------------------- Mr.Kippling just launched a nuclear holocaust at third world countries! ... But he does make exceedingly good cakes. |

If fire won't kill it then you are not using enough fire. Next time bring MOAR fire.

False. Though it was destroyed before it could be used.
It is unsurprising at the lack of ability of the Syneans and their ilk to withstand the Revenant, particularly on its first deployment. This is only the beginning.

When Concord decides to fix the needs of the Echleon, then maybe I will bring mine. But I won't fly a ship like it that is too easily podded into that big of a battle.

I've heard rumours about a lack of focus on the job at hand.
You got any firsthand knowledge of this Ms. Du'Volle?

No, but I have logs, Intel, Administration Reports from the event and everything else you'll ever need to know. Drop me a line at some stage and I'll see what I can do.

Pilot Xiozor, if you were not aware, Unit did bring an Echelon to perform codebreaking upon Heavenbound's revenant, allthough we did not gain invitation to a fleet and our Echelon class frigate was destroyed in the encounter by Ghost Hunter before any codebreaking activity could be performed.

Xiozor's tactical suggestions are true. If we are to win, we must think out of the box and cooperate. If we have more detailed reports from these encounters, then we will find the key to success.
Too bad to hear that the pirate capsuleers messed with the fleet operations. They are traitors to mankind, who share the responsibility of the loss of civilian lives in Seyllin.

It looks as though either these words were heeded or the riddle was otherwise solved as the Supercarrier in Ashab tonight night was destroyed by the very method suggested here. Congratulations pilots, it's a shame I wasn't around to bask in the glory.
The Seyllin invasion was at 2200 hours. Let's keep it up pilots, it's only a matter of time before we break their technological advantage and have them on the defensive. ----------------------------------------------- Mr.Kippling just launched a nuclear holocaust at third world countries! ... Edited by: Oathborne on 20/01/2011 05:56:44 Not to make the situation sound hopeless. But 1 fact that seems to be insurmountable:
Fact::The one advantage that we have against Nation is that we are the Gods Of New Eden. We are capsuleers. Immortal giants.
Problem: They are rallying Capsuleers to their cause even as we speak.
Solution: Unknown.
But I am confident that each and every Capsuleer who fires on my vessel while engaged against an Incursion will become my new primary, bear the full weight of my turrets and -- Heaven willing -- be sent home via a Cloning station.
The idiotic Baffoons at CONCORD should at least come up with a signal beacon that can interface with pilot virtual overviews, that flags capsuleers as Sansha loyalists based on their own actions. Similar to their Global Criminal transponder codes.
With something like this in place, the Loyalist Capsuleers could be dispatch quickly, thus allowing the rest of us to deal with the Nation vessels.

First the solution is very simple, Join the nation and help it achieve its goals.
Second, the Nation is not a pirate organization it is a legitimate sovereign state. If loyalist capsuleers loot your wreck to help offset costs of helping the nation then good for them. I didn't see any ransom offers in Seyllin so I see it as hardly piracy.
Of course if a Nation loyalist makes their income through such means I am sure it is totally Concord's fault for making high sec too dangerous for them. So I say Concord is your enemy then not the Nation.

Edited by: Linara Xen on 20/01/2011 09:31:14 Well, Sansha's Nation may be a legitimate sovereign state, for all I care. And, all right, it wages war on all the other sovereign states in New Eden. Or perhaps I should say genocide. Let's just hear the Nation's loyalists talk when Kuvakei finally decides that it's their turn to become mindless cyber-slaves.

I think setting up a new set of rules for engagement may need to be thought up for this, if only to stop the pirates from making the most of a chaotic situation. It's hard enough fighting the Sansha, without wondering if the Hurricane next to you will suddenly turn it's guns on you. We also need to start forming alliances amongst groups who are willing to fight the Sansha, as well as maybe procuring the help of experienced merc corps willing to provide fleet security against outside intrusions.

I would say the best option would be to dedicate a percentage of any given defense fleet to watch for and engage pirates. If there is no or minimal danger from scavengers, then this percentage will add to a given unitĘs reserves.

Are there not pirates who are anti-Nation?
As it is being used here, the "pirate" label is a misleading one. Are these not Nation loyalists you are discussing and not merely pirates?
I find pirate to be a label better worn than assigned. "One man's pirate..." after all.

Edited by: Oathborne on 20/01/2011 20:57:21 CONCORD Sensor Networks span the entirety of New Eden. Every weapon fired from a starship at another starship and does damage, is recorded and cataloged.
My request would be to, using combat data, identify capsuleers who have been at Sansha Incursion instances and fired on vessels not transmitting a Sansha's Nation Transponder code.
However, I would like the CONCORD indent system to flag those capsuleers as supporters of Sansha's Nation. Your current Security status will let others as to whether you are a "Pirate" or not.
And to complete the phrase, "One man's pirate.....
...is another man's PIRATE." Sec status doesn't lie.
