Hello
which of theses 3 ships is best for solo work fighting frigates, cruisers and destroyers?
Rifter Tharsher Stabber
im a returning player after a year or 2 break. my Sp isnt that much but i will train toward one of these ships.
Please comment on what ship you think is best, what load out and what tactics i should use.
Thanks

Rifter/Thrasher for killing frigs
Thrasher for killing Dessies and noob Cruisers
Stabber, I never really liked it much.. Would stick to a Rupture for Minmatar T1 cruisers.
Pick the targets you want to hunt then pick your ship.

I am a falcon-alting, booster-having, no-honor "solo" PvPer.

Solo PVP isn't dead, it's just not as easy to find.
The Rifter is great fun, and I always have a few nearby to jump into and cause problems for some locals. It is the best combat T1 frigate in the game until you can get into cruisers.
I don't really care for soloing in a Thrasher. If you have a couple of buddies to fly with you then it's not a bad little ship.
I love the Stabber, fits medium turrets, is quite fast and very maneuverable for a cruiser. It's perfect for doing hit-and-run type of attacks because it won't take a whole lot of punishment. A more stand-and-fight style cruiser is the Rupture, is also a lot of fun, and does not take much longer to train for if you can already fly a Stabber.

Edited by: Zeromentor on 20/01/2011 12:31:29 I used to solo PvP, now I hang around in high sec and ransom stupid people. Yeah, solo PvP pretty much died. You CAN solo PvP, but more and more you find groups of people hanging together, usually with a logistics ship that will ruin your day pretty fast.
So... In the end all solo'ers really have is high sec can flipping (etc), war deccing people. or running around in low/0.0 dodging "small" gangs of 20+ people, or alliance blobs of 100+.
(Sadly, what I consider small gangs is 3-5 people. Now it seems "small" gangs are 10 battleships with logistics support) But hey, either go Stabber for fast in-and-out work, or go rifter for easy frigate and poorly-fit cruiser kills. After that, go rupture or hurricane. ______________________________________

If i had my choice of cruiser and below, i'd go Rupture.
But out of those three, I think a stabber is the best one. Just fit her out like you would a vaga (i believe theres a fit in battleclinic) and go for it. I dont think its the ship as much as the situation. i.e picking out targets and where.

Why people continue to post fail fits like this, I'll never know.
For starting out in solo pvp, use a rifter. You'll lose ships at first, there's know way out of it. Rifters will be easier on your wallet and easier to use against enemies. Either use autocannons for scram range or artillery for outside of scram range. And fit a nos if you wanna go after a cruiser and don't forget to kill ALL drones FIRST. Use barrage and kite other frigs at 7-8km. If it goes south, overheat your afterburner and leave.

Use a Thrasher for the cheapest pwnmobile you can possibly buy. Don't try to fight missileboats, droneboats, BCs or AC cruisers with it though.

I lol'd... The socially inept struggle in the face of MMOs.
Solo PvP is not dead, you just need to be creative in attracting targets that would for the most part feel comfortable taking you on alone. In your case, u'r at a disadvantage due to ur age not coinciding with ur SP. The young won't fight u, and perhaps skill wise, u can't match the age ur too reflects. Thus creativity is what's needed to draw more fights. This is just too "outside the box" for most people. GL
