Obviously ccp does not think that the stacking + skill problem is worth the hassle to do a emergancy patch to solve it, so there is no patch today.
They said that they would patch on Friday, and if they didn't, then on Monday the latest...
How long might ccp known about this problem, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month?

Ok, lets let them patch, and then when you guys whine that you CANNOT UNDOCK, atleast the stacking issue will be fixed right? Better to wait till tomorrow for the patch. Believe me. Can't undock :(

omg ccp will release a patch when its ready. Do you really want ccp to release a patch that isnt ready and have the same trouble we had a couple of weeks ago on that famous saturday afternoon where no-one could play for about 6 hours?

No, I don't want them to release a buggy patch. But I would like to see them doing something about a problem that have been know for a long time and that is causing alot of concern for the major part of the eve population (stacking + skills) in an emergancy patch. It's not like they haven't done it before.

I can easily see both sides of this Problem, and whoile I agree with the people sticking up for CCP in thier delay, I also agree emergency patches need more consideration.
A bug fix shouldn't require endless hours of playtesting to make sure it's ok, especialy if it's just a few little lines of code getting editied (then again who knows how many lines of code need to be edited for some fixes). Point is though, a bug fix while potentialy problematic, is a much smaller patch, and least likely to break things balance wise.
All it has to do is work as intended for the people on test for a day or two, and viola, release the sucker.
For example the CTD bugs have gotten some lovin on Chaos recently, I hardly CTD at all on Chaos now...
Word has it that fix has been on chaos for weeks now... SURELY they could have released it a week ago!?
What I find truly unacceptable is this one fact:
All you people who are such wise asses and know it all's teling us WHY the patch got delayed... how did YOU find this out!?
Did you contact CCP? or just go by what the test server lets you do ATM? I know the test server has had some problems since 1096 (I thin I was the first to find out as I posted on it when 1095 was the live patch on chaos hehehe).
So for all your good intentions of telling people why they are ignorant for wanting thier promised patch, why don't you tell us all also where WE as a COMUNITY can find this info for ourselves so we won't look like idiots in the future?
CCP MUST start making the patch notes more or less public sooner, and start telling us reasons why things like this are delayed, and not wait a day or two to do it.
If CCP cared they would have created the silly news item on the main page or something at least acknowldging the delay so we don't all pull our hair out with worry and doubt...
See what I mean guys? :)

I'm working on getting a fully updated list of what's coming and will get that up on the site for everyone as soon as I can. This is a huge patch with lots of changes and fixes. I don't think there's anything that is so drastic it will make your eyes bug out, but I agree that the players need this information before the patch is in.
ETA for the patch is Wednesday, if all goes according to plan.

Jesus Pann, you know whats hystericle?
whenever I start to lose my cool you always come riding in like some kind of avenging angel and say something good like that.
I take it back you DO care, I just hope that careing leads to action SOON.
As far as wednesday being the next planned patch day? Sheesh... something must have been seriously busted eh?
Oh well... looks like I'll have to live with CTD's for 2 more days... 19 days between patches? anyone know if thats anew record? ;)
Again Thank you pann, at least now we know roughly WHEN the patch will come out. Which is better than nothin ;)

Well all, I know this will cause controversy but hey who cares.....
CCP will patch when it's ready.. Do Microsoft or Redhat rush a patch do they F*%*. Let them get it ready in their own time and those who keep complaining, stop whining! Hopefully they will get the problems sorted out soon although anyone know a game or software product that doesn't need patches, hell I use a Screen saver that needs patches
However one good thing is Ywev is stuck hahaha, serves him right for hitting our CEo the other week.. --------------------------------- No Slugs were harmed in the creation of this signature --------------------------------- |

I feel inclined to say something here about this thread......
If you can't be bothered to get on to chaos and check out what is going on, and help find bugs in the up and coming patch(s), then you shouldn't comment about "when the next patch will be released".
There are a few problems in the current chaos patch level, and even if it take another week, I would rather see it fixed before it ends up on TQ.
With up to 6000+ users online, I see very few of you taking the time, or having the interest to get onto chaos and see what's happening.
If it takes a week, so be it. If you don't help test on chaos then you can't really complain when a bug DOES get through.

"19 days between patches?"
That's a pretty short time compared to many other MMOGs.
As the game stabilizes, we'll see patches become larger and less frequent. Just like with any other game. DAoC was up to 1-2 months between patches until SI was released, SI dictated weekly patches for around 3 weeks, then every 2 weeks for another month, and a few months later it was back to the old 1-2 months per patch schedule.
The thing I liked about DAoC, and that I think CCP should do rather than letting people figure things out for themselves on Chaos, is that Mythic released patch notes for each incremental patch that was implemented on the test server but didn't go live. Mythic uses a lettering system (1.63A, 1.63B, and so on until release, when 1.63 goes live), and CCP should publish individual notes for each patch rev that goes onto Chaos but doesn't go live. ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

Regarding helping out in chaos, i try to keep my test client updated. Occasionaly i log on to Chaos, but i can't seem to have any info on what is the current focus of testing and patching, and the status of my character hasn't been updated so it remains in a relatively low end state. Besides checking how well i can kill the local pirates and what is the current dam/rof/range of the weapons i have there is little more i am able to do.

That DB restore from TQ to chaos is on a Tuesday/Wednesday, so at the most you are 1 week out of sync.

Not bad, I reported 4 errors in the last 24 hours against the new features, and "old" unresolved bugs. And one of those you don't want on TQ, believe me.
Don't just look for things to your advantage (or maybe disadvantage), but if you know there is a problem, take the time to fill in a bug report, and maybe, take the time to see if it has already been resolved on the latest chaos release. If not, resubmit the bug against the chaos patch. -- Jaabaa - CEO - Dental Drilling Corporation |

19 days between patches is brilliant in my experience. ok this is my first proper MMORPG (MMOSG? - space game) but compared to most games these patches are coming at lightning speed.

Thing is Jabaa that this isn't beta anymore.
People actually pay to play and most people have jobs, families and all the other aspects of life so they don't have hours and hours to play and they most certainly do not have the time to test software. So stop berating people for not doing something they shouldn't have to anyway with a retail product. OK?
I know for a fact that there will be an internal buglist and documentation for each patch (if there isn't then the game is dead anyway - one dev leaves and there would be chaos).
It would take someone in QA an hour (at most) a week to summarise the bugs fixed/features added and put it in a "user-friendly" format.
For whatever reason CCP don't want to do this - I have no clue at all why this is. Oh and before everyone kicks off - yes I do know this has been promised. It's been promised since I started playing this game and it still hasn't materialised.
This isn't a rant - it's merely a set of observations. There seem to be a lot of you that think this game is still in beta stages of development - well technically I'd say that's true but they sold it to people (hence it cannot be beta) and it's a little unreasonable to expect paying customers to spend time on a test server to find the bugs eh?

Me. and the whine is not the EVE is still in beta (which it is not, it is obviously a retail product), it is simply that is being handled much like a beta. Thats all. -=-------------------------------------------=-
