Hello, I'm new and fly caldari so my drone related skills are abysmal to say the least. Even so i was wondering about non-combat drones: 1) I've seen armor rep drones in action but what about shield logistics drones? they any good? 2) ECM drones are only useful in larg quantities or can one can make a difference? 3) What about combat utility drones? The neut effect is too weak? |

1. Unless you are using the heavy variants and/or huge numbers of logistic drones, they are not all that useful except to mitigate incoming damage or repair after the fact (when you have more time). You cannot use logistic drones on yourself (as you cannot target yourself )
2. ECM drones operate on probability. The more you throw at an enemy, the higher the chances that person will be jammed.
3. Yep. That's why they aren't use much. They are slow, destructible, and their effects are no higher than HALF that of a fitted module which does the same thing. _______________________

1. They certainly can be. They are really only useful when helping a shield tanking ship to take advantage of the ship's resists. 2. Each one gets a small chance of jamming the target on each cycle. You generally want to use a full flight of them to have any real effect. 3. The combat utility drones are useful for very specific tactics and situations. They usually are less useful than other options when you aren't certain of how the battle will be played out, in my opinion.

1) both armor and shield rep drones do the same amount of rep. As was stated, they don't work on yourself because you can't target yourself. You'll want to be using a full rack of these and only fitted to support ships. Whether they are worth using over small or medium combat drones will depend on who you are assisting and the nature of the fleet.
2) ECM drones you'll want a full rack. A full rack is fairly reliable against players. ECM is dangerous to use against most NPCs, and ewar in general is of limited use. Against players they are effective but if it's worth it will depend on your other options. Other ewar drones may or may not be as effective, though the skill is handy.
3) I've never bothered with combat utility drones. I've never been into neuts in general, but I like webs, however web drones are too big to be fitted to the blaster cruisers that would take most advantage of them.
If you really want to test out a drone, get someone in your corp to do some practice duels.
