Improvement
I have been playing eve for only a few months but have already sold my xbox on ebay because I love this game so much, scope, depth complexity.
So I think itÆs a great game but I did have one small suggestion. If you are in game and actively using the skill that you are training then you should earn a small sp bonus towards its learning time. For example when you kill a pirate with a missile and your training missiles you get like 10 sp or whatever. I think this would actually reward people for being online and being active. Someone who mines 24/7 would surely get better faster at it than someone who does not practice at all right? IÆm suggesting the sp bonus on top of the countdown. I know augmentations increase the skill speed but IÆm talking about this bonus being on top of any normal skill time countdown.
I believe it would be good for the game. IÆm sure there is a complex reason why this is not a good idea but please someone tell me what that reason is

so if I'm training afterburners I just fit a capstable ship with an AB and let it fly for a few day's same with mwd. How about training my ecm skills? I'd just activate it on an alt and let it run for a while.
bad idea and the forum for idea's is a bit down

1) welcome to eve,
2) this thread should be in features and idea's as that is the place to suggest ideas. A helpful member of CCP staff will probably be along shortly to move it.
3) this idea gets suggested a lot, some much so that CCP sticked a version the commonly proposed idea thread at the top of the features and idea's forum. Back before I started to play it was actually in game. Players found numerous ways to exploit it. for example setting their main and alt up in battle ships with small lasers, start shooting at each other, leave PC on and got to work. When you come back you characters have better laser, cap management, shield skills etc. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |

More then likely you have just learned this mechanic from other games or thought it just made logical sense(it does) and though it would be a good thing to transfer it to this game. You were wrong.
The mechanic is on a general level just plain bad, since it always encourages people to grind instead of just playing the game how they enjoy it the most. With any SP boost from activity you will create a strong incentive for people to do things they need to train, instead of doing things they enjoy doing. This is a bad thing in every game.
You also face the issue, that either the bonus is effortless to gain, which makes it pointless to implement, since you could have just buffed attributes directly. Or it is hard to gain and you force pointless, tedius grinding on people. The kind of activity we want to get rid of, since it encourages botting, use of macros and is boring. If you love grinding, go ahead and grind stuff to your heart's content, but don't shove it on the rest of us.
Bad idea, not good for the game either and you should feel bad for suggesting it.

I get this impression of killing 2 million 9 hundred thousand and 38 boars in the woods to get to level 5 auto cannon specialization...

To the OP:
This idea comes up often and people put it down as quickly. There is another forum to post these ideas, and I suggest you post it there, as well as future ones. The General forum is full of trolls and sadly you don't get xp for fighting them.
Best regards, Apollo Gabriel
