When placing a high volume buy order, and in spite of the fact that I may specify a 1000 unit minimum, I nevertheless find unit counts of ten or 20 units in deliveries. I was under the impression that a sale wouldn't be transacted unless the seller fulfilled the minimum unit count. What am I not aware of?

If fewer units remain in your standing bid than your original minimum, the minimum is reduced to the total unit count. E.g., if you put up an order for 100 units with a 10 unit minimum, and someone sold you 98 units (more than your minimum of 10), then 2 units would be left in your order, and its minimum would be reduced to 2. Someone could now sell you 2 units.
Alternatively, there was a time, perhaps several years ago, when a patch broke the minimum order mechanism, and people could sell any quantity to bids, regardless of set minimums. That was fixed shortly after being broken. If you have evidence that it is happening again, be sure to make a Bug Report. á á

Hmmmm. You're explanation makes perfect sense for the situation you describe. It appears though, that it may be happening in cases where I still have a standing order with 100,000 units or more still unfilled. These orders often span an area of 4 or 5 jumps out from the station where they were initiated, so I wonder if portions of these buys are being splattered somehow? I'll make a greater effort to track what may be happening.

I'm pretty sure his answer was in fact accurate. What he was saying is if you have a minimum of 100 and some body sells you 102 it will now allow anyone to sell you the difference to the next hundred. So if some one were to buy 100,028 unites it will leave an imbalance of 99,972 which may now be filled in 'partial'. At least that's what I derived. I may be wrong or 1/2 wrong if that makes sense.
