Has there been any discussion on fixing what could be considered the most devestating loss that can happen to a person in this game? I am talking about Tech II ship BPO corp theft?
I have never seen any more costly loss in any online game in terms of time wasted/stolen.
Ok, Ok, there is one thing worse I have seen online,, back in the old days of UO you could steal peoples house keys and then own their homes. But in 'time invested' terms that may be a tie with Tech II ship BPO corp theft.
Crazy stuff....

It is quite easy to avoid this type of theft. Only give your corp copies. You ALWAYS keep the originals in your own hangar.

You are 100% correct of course. But some people are just too trusting (aka Ignorant) and I can't see such a steep penalty for being ignorant being good for the game as a whole.

I know this is a huge problem.
some of the reasons why station cans was implemented was becus of this.
And use the lock function in the corp.
This should have used from day 1 after shiva.
But there is a line where the precausions overcomes the usefullness of the hole effort.
So new implications I can't see being implemented

Just use the lockdown feature. It's crazy to make your corp work off copies, you can produce several ships in the time it takes to make even a 1 run copy.

Yes and the price you pay for faster production rates is the risk of theft of the original.
Taking the time to make copies maybe a nuisance but it also ensures you're precious bpo remains secure. Risk Vs Reward.

CLS has quite the reputation and I trust them enough to let them use my BPO. I can see that this could be quite a problem, though. How about having a liscenced owner on each tech2 BPO?

If tech II BP were given as BPCs instead of BPOs, everybody could have fun with that part of the game and what happened to you wouldn't be so harsh.
I know what you can feel Dynastron, and I sympathize, but a wrong system has wrong consequences.

I guess in a huge corp this could be a problem. t2 bpo ownership should be personal and you shouldnt ever put it into the public corp space. there are a lot of things like this that CCP could try to "protect" players from but at the end of the day if the players do silly things then it's their fault.

In fact if trust is high enough then it is actualy posible to borrow/rent tech2 bpos.. (slightly offtopic I know)

BPO's can be locked down to hanger floor now in Exodus.
