They are the ones that will do the greatest damage though because they are the smart ones.
Really not many of those about? Would not be so sure about that.

That is quite funny considering it is the standard procedure now for joining Veto...

Right, but some ask full API. The single advice i would give to everyone is to never give that one and so run away from any corp asking this to you.
Quote: Is it just me or does asking for API seem naive these days?
Giving the Api should be something that the corp mate does by it self because he trust's you, otherwise a single screenshot of your skilss is enough to normal people.
The changes i would like to see hapen to the actual form of API is that when you give someone's Api, the guy opening it sends you atomaticly his own with no possibility to skip this.

I've never seen a corp that doesn't ask for your API.
The people going 'omg I would <rude gesture> someone who asked me for one' are the kinds of people sitting in some missionhub right now.
In a one man corp.
Maximizing isk/hour and avoiding contact with all those scary people out to get them. |

I've been in corps that didn't ask for APIs, although some of those were before APIs.
NPC corps or solo generally now though, but that would not stop me joining another play corp.
Although I'd never join one that asks for APIs, because quite frankly they don't need it. Probably most of the time it's just them being nosey.

You sound like an goof. Probably a crappy corp full of control freaks anyway...
I've NEVER been asked for my API and I have been in some excellent corps with great guys...

Originally by: gyldenglad3 Q:Should I be afraid to give out my full API? A: No, you should not. Unless you are joining a corp that requires specific skills, which you don't have. Or, if you are afraid your CEO will know you are as poor as a dog and can only fly a raven, which you at the same time is unable to repay if you should lose it.
Q:Why is limited API not good enough? A: In some cases, especially in largely organized corps, sometimes things can be stolen from hangars. Almost every corporation you join, will have some ships stored somewhere, could be a POS or in a corp hangar, where you will access almost at the very moment you join. If the corp have your full API, they can search your assets and see if you stole it, they can only check your market orders to see if you sold these.
So everyone in this thread, who says "dud ur fukin stupido to give ur api its liek givin passwd", have no idea what they are talking about.
Actually, handing out your full API can be a very risky endeavor.
For traders and industrialists especially, handing out your full API will reveal all of your trading habits/strategies.
Another thing that full APIs reveal are your EVE mails. EVE mails could contain all sorts of personal information: POS passwords, personal e-mail, personal information, or anything which you happened to send to friend or family in the game. I don't know about you, but this is a fairly large invasion of privacy.
I myself would NEVER join a corp which required full API access. Competent spies use a 2nd account anyways. APIs should only be used for a basic background check and to give a quick overview of a character's competencies.
EDIT: Also realize that your full API will also reveal sensitive information, such as POS locations, how much fuel is in them and how much stront is in them. ----------

'if doing so violates the new guy so be it'
If that's your attitude towards your new members then they would be suckers to join you in the first place.
thats there choice, just like its mine to ask for there api. -----------------------------------------------

Sophia seems to come off as super paranoid. It's pretty entertaining I guess.
Most of the corps I've joined have asked for limited API. I don't know why it's worry-worthy, by any means, unless you're conducting some super sekrit solo op. People can pretty much already determine so many of your skills by what you fly, and really, why **** a brick over your CEO knowing that you can be a POS gunner?
Not wanting to give away full API, I understand and don't do myself. But even if you think that the information given via limited API is useless/insufficient in terms of alt accounts/whatever, why not just give them the key? :P
Again, people trippin' over limited API entertain me.

That's funny that's how I consider corps that require APIs.

I guess I am OK to provide my limited API, but they can see my Wallet ISK amount. I think that should be private as it is what you own and has nothing to do with joining a corp.
Thx, DEFIER.
