ASA CCP launches Incarna i'm predicting that EVE will reach 100K PCU, mainly because why EVE doesn't seduce some players is the fact theres no actual walking chars.
Actually professions like Barman, mini games of poker or some other futuristic mini games, casinos and perhaps some adult striptease bars (maybe with actual players char strippers (hopefully of the same sex as the ingame char , only available to those old enough in RL).
If you add to this some type of EVE story line with some factional intrigue, spying and counter-spying , and perhaps some PVP. Ie: Lets imagine that all races have such a story line to follow and the players of a given race finish the riddles, place counter information for other races, etc... that in the end it would affect EVE to a major degree like the introduction of a race type ship that could only be flown by that race independent of skill. With Incarna, sky is literally the limit.
OFC if this is too much "second life" for you players can still stay inside their ships and avoid it.
CCP ASA you launch Incarna be ready for a major Hardware upgrade. _________________________ CSM Candidate for 2011 (soon a pretty photoshop sig) Aelius 2011 Candidacy Guide Lines |

Obviously talking out my ass but I wouldn't have thought that there are more than 10-15% more (than 60k) folks hiding in the wood work. Average 2.5 accounts per person and only about 1/5th of the total registered accounts are active, or have been for years etc.
My guestimate is about 70-80k.
Be interested to see what CCP think it might be though, given they should know ..

Hell, I've been waiting for this since the day I started playing eve. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see unearthly amount of players. 80k+ is in my range. - Got any tinfoil? |

Hehe any advance on 80?
Obviously if Incarna rocks and we can walk around public galleries and go in to bars etc. No matter how buggy or glitched, I'm sure it will trigger a deluge of nostalgic vets and teenage girls ..
If as has been mooted its 'just' Captain's Quarters CCP might well end up shooting themselves in the foot. Especially if the blogosphere press can't conceal 'their' disappointment etc.

I think it is obvious by now what will happen, this may or may not be bad depending on how you look at it.
Atm everyone is getting horny for eve-barbie, when incarna is launched you will get a stampede of autistic kids desperate to /dance and /hug in stations.
The PCU will rise and rise and the GMs will run around clueless confused with what todo, then everyone will whine about lag and crashes yet more people will join despite everything breaking.
Then the world will end in 2012 and eve will be branded the most ironic game ever, where everyone will both win and lose AT THE SAME TIME!!
