Subject says it all...I had a Thrasher shot out from under me last night, and I'm curious what the most effective build would be -- weapons, systems, all of it.

On my probing alt, who wasn't going to have a lot of combat skills I went with:
6x of the biggest artillery I could pack 1x tractor beam 1x salvager 1x 1MN AB II
Rest of the slots empty for lack of fitting room with my skills. Then I would just stay at 20km and insta pop frigs before they got in range. It worked great for level 1s, but for anything harder, you'd need some actual tanking/a better ship.
So yeah, long range guns, stay at range (AB helps here), and stick to missions that are almost 100% frigs.
Since there's no more learning skills there's not a huge reason to stay in a destroyer for very long anymore. (When I first started my main I was in a Catalyst for about 2 weeks while I did some basic Learning skills.)

For PvP or PvE
I tend to like the dual-sebo arty thrasher or the armor fitted autocannon fits for pvp.

They worked fine for me back when I used them more often, although you cant really take anything bigger than frigates reliably in destroyers

For reference, here's what I have been using:
High:
1 x Standard Missile I (Bloodclaw) 4 x 280mm howitzer (Phased Plasma S) 3 x 125mm Gatling autocannon (Phased Plasma S)
I wanted to fit all Howitzers, but ran out of power.
Medium:
Shield Recharger Passive Targeter I Small Hull Repairer I
Low:
Afterburner 1MN Small Armor Repairer I
Thoughts?

I think thats in the wrong place, dont mix tanks or gun types
