Protip:
Most traders don't make billions just by trading. Even the fail traders can lie on the forums.

What he says... There are so many lies, and some many people claiming 100 mil perh in station trading. All to hide they are plexing or just lies.
But, that said it is still the best way to get isk in this game.

I got the best tip, get a original BP shuttle. Cost nothing, and you can fly with your BPO and but what you need to produce in every station. Buy minerals, produce 100, sell. Thats a profit of 30-40% per shuttle. You will get your investment isk from the tutorial..

Realize the majority of things said on the forums are lies, trolls and manipulation attempts. Specific examples of use x item are usually terrible and the majority of "trade" guides are focused on hauling **** effectively.
If you have specific questions the forums might be able to help, might. Very few people are going to hurt themselves by giving away "trade sekrets". Look for ways to make the market more efficient and do the math on things.

i was in exactly the same boat as you about 2 weeks ago, i had read pages and pages of "i make millions of isk a day..." and "buy low sell high" crap. so i had bout 80mil when i started. i went to jita. got one of my alts in amaar and another in rens, looked for a few items i could buy in one transport to another and make profit. My char is a nub so i was transporting in a Probe with cargo expander 600m3 i think. i started with ammo and then moved on to t1/t2 outfittings made about 20-30mil in 2 days. its was extremely boring so i stopped. Other things you could do is buy in hubs and sell in low sec/misson hubs
Hope this helps

Protip: traders who've found something really profitable are not going to be sharing it with anyone. Your best bet is to do your own research on items and prices.
What items do mission runners need? Check the prices at various trade and mission hubs and see if there's an opportunity to transport for profit.
What items do new players need? Same thing, only check prices at starting systems instead.
What items do manufacturers need? Same thing.
Not all NPC goods are sold in all regions. Are there BPOs or skill books that players in Dodixie might want, but are only sold in Caldari space?
Hate transporting? Use a courier contract and get somebody else to haul your stuff. Courier contracts are absolutely safe, as long as you remember to set the collateral (the amount the hauler has to pay you if he doesn't deliver the package) to more than the items are worth. If you want stuff moved from anywhere in high sec to Jita, there's always someone going your way; you can pay 1% of collateral as the reward for completing the contract and expect the contract to be delivered pretty quickly (and if that doesn't leave you with plenty of profit, find something with a higher profit margin). Sending items the other way can be slower, though, and good luck finding someone willing to courier into lowsec :)
REALLY hate transporting? 'Buy low, sell high' doesn't require moving from one region to another. You can set up low-price buy orders, let people sell stuff to you, and then turn around and sell it back to the next guy. What you're selling is time - you buy low from people who want money NOW and don't want to wait for sell orders to go through; you sell to people who want the item NOW and don't want to wait for buy orders.
If you're competing with other players' sell or buy orders, remember, the highest buy price and the lowest sell price goes through first, even if the margin is only 0.01 ISK.
There are times when you want to undercut other players' prices by a large margin. If they undercut you by 0.01 ISK, congratulations, you've driven the price of the commodity down. Keep doing this, and maybe now will be a good time to buy their stuff and sell it all at a higher price. But don't undercut too far, or they'll buy all your stuff instead - and maybe that's what you want.
Keep an eye on market trends. There's a tab that shows you the average prices for any given item for a period of up to a year. If prices have been going rapidly up or down recently, it might be a good idea to sell or buy, depending; if the price of something has been stable for the last year, buy orders under that price are probably a solid investment (as long as they're the highest in the region).
Keep an eye on patch notes, changes, and in-game events. A lot of people in this forum have been working for months trying to predict how the markets will react to Incursion. A lot of people in this forum made a LOT of money buying NPC planetary goods before they changed to PC production only. A lot of people in this forum lost a LOT of money when CCP changed the drop rate for named afterburners and MWDs. Situational awareness is important!
There's stuff I haven't mentioned, of course, but find that out for yourself. Good luck :)

Confirming that I have made Billions trading...
No I don't purchase isk...
and no, I won't share the methods of my filthy lucre generation with you.
You have to work it out on your own.
