When i open my client it shows the lil picture with incursion on it but then goes to a black screen with only the mouse. However i cant exit this, force quit it or click anything and have to hard reboot my mac. It sometimes works if i delete the preferances folder in the library but only about 50% of the time. ive tryed re installing the client from scratch but that has yeilded no results either. if anyone has any advice please o please post it as im happy to try anything |

When your client does that next time; try pressing Alt/Option -Command and the Esc key. This will kill the program. I have had this problem myself. After killing the program in the manner I just went through, a restart has always been successful. This however, does not address the underlining issue which is that there are some serious bugs in the Mac version that needs to be addressed.

Worked perfectly :) thanks so much as this glitch has been a pain where the sun dont shine for a looong time. For any other mac users wanting to use this repair tool just paste the link given by neewar into a web browser, let the .tar file download and open it, run the tool automaticly and select the eve online application from the list and bingo. :)

Seems we'll have to run the repair tool after each patch. Sadly it's not repairing every issue heheh ( see black squares for icons thread for instance, and many other minor problems.) CCP Give us mac users the love we deserve with the same patience we spend trying to run your clients !
Sorry For crap english.

I have been experiencing frequent crashes, around one per day, where the client freezes and I can't get back to the OS. I've tried command-alt-ESC which always used to work but doesn't have any effect now. I can hear TeamSpeak running in the background and can even log into the machine remotely from another via SSH, so the OS is still running. I've even tried to kill cider via the command line since it was the only Eve related process I could see running, but it wouldn't die.
It's bad enough that it's crashing so frequently now, in addition to all the lagging, pausing and text window jumping, but having to do a forced shutdown when the OS is still running is really bad.

If you do a forced shutdown by holding down the power button for 3+ secs, the computer takes care of most potential problems in a safe manner. The thing *not* to do is to do a forced shutdown by switching the plug off, this has a much higher chance of causing problems.

I do use the power button, but having to shut it down along with anything else I have running because one zombie process has the screen locked is a bad situation.

Setting the graphics down to pretty much the minimum and turning most of the effects off seems to have stopped the freezing. So far I've turned the texture quality back up to medium and it still seems ok. I guess I'll try turning things back on one at a time and see when it happens again. My bug report hasn't even been acknowledged yet so no help from CCP.

Happens to me too. Set your client to start up in windowed mode so you can force quit it when it crashes, and not have it take your entire computer down with it.
