[31] if you have zone alarm installed then uninstall it totaly. dont just turn it off. it blocks ports even when turned off, not all ports, but some, usually in the range used by games -- even when disbled at startup! its a POS, yet everyone uses it, WHY!? New exploits are always being found for Za, maybe as a result of it being so popular, or maybe because its crap. you decide. give kerio a shot, its the same deal, free for home use, yet has beter networking features, and does what its supposed to do, its MUCH beter than Za. www.kerio.com if its not that, then you need to give us more info on your system setup. your OS? using a Router of any kind? etc etc.. ------------------------------------------------------------ Offensive signature text removed. But. . . this makes only partial sense 'cause EVE hasn't had an option to use MS-DirectPlay for as long as I've been playing (Beta Phase 4) and even if it did, 29001/udp is not part of the MS-DirectPlay protocol. When I'm at home tonight, I'll run a sniffer on my firewall to determine exactly what it's using. /* Cortex Reaver crtxreavr at trioptimum dot com "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -Benjamin Franklin, 1759 */ |

[50] Your university could be lying to you, and have the port disabled, alot of schools seem to be cutting down on non school work bandwidth type activities. I would get to know the guy in charge.. buy him some beer and see if he can fix it for ya. Pod ya later.. Ywev |

[53] Windows XP comes with it's own firewall and automaticly configures it. I don't know if 2K does the same thing. This may be your problem if 2K autoconfigures a firewall. Other than that, I am shooting in the dark. [56] well I dont think the university is lying to me for many reasons. One of which is because Ive called 4 different dept's on this issue, they all tell me the same thing. On top of that I called the main switch board by trackin down the main admin who is not in conjunction with the university, and he even said the same thing.....peeps try pinging the server that they listed, Ive called my cousin to try pinging it and it never gave him a response either. according to CCP its 157.157.139.10 (which I dont think it is......)
