Right, that's what you're supposed to do. But if you don't, you can be stuck until someone brings you a ship.

This is something you probably only do once, but that is one time too many. It should simply not be possible, especially when, as far as I can tell, there is no reason to it.

Although I agree that waking up in a pod would make life easier, it makes no sense from the background/lore standpoint. You wake up in a new clone in a cloning facility in the station. You don't have a pod until you get into a capsuleer ship and thus into a pod.
This is not the alt you are looking for. |

For real? Pilots go into the ship before entering a pod?
The specific fix isn't that important, what's important is people not being stuck in stations because of this.

An alternative fix could be to not let people trash a ship if they only have one pilotable ship in their hangar, and they are not in a pod already.

Although I've never had this happen to me, I agree with the OP that it shouldn't be possible. Respawning as a pod would be a good idea. Not being able to destroy the ship under certain, specific circumstances - maybe not so good. My suggestion would be to have a button somewhere that puts you into a pod, if you're not currently in one. Any other time, it buzzes and rejects you.

One button to do something that is so rare might be a bit much. But I'll add it to OP still, maybe CCP agrees.

How about if you log in and are in a station with no ship or pod, you get a new rookie ship? So if you make the error of tossing the rookie ship right away, all you do is re-log.
Or, if you have no ship or pod, there is a "request rookie ship" option that appears in a menu somewhere, like when you right click in the hangar space.
Anyway, lots of ways to fix. The issue is; it should be fixed.

they do give you a new noob ship every tiem you enter station where you have no ships and logging in counts as entering station so if you trash it just relog and you always get another one. you just have to suffer that small inconvience of relogging if you trash your first one

I never understanded why they changed it so that you don't end up in your pod after cloning. I remember me feintly that you were always put in a pod after being podkilled in a far away past. And then suddenly you don't, you are podless in station. ---------------------------------- None of yet! |
