They don't receive. The ship is destroyed, and the modules + cargo have 50% chance to drop, but they must approach the wreck to loot it, and there's no time for that during a fight.
Typically, PVP corps and alliances will reimburse you if you lose your ship during combat, so it costs almost 0 to go fight. Otherwise, PVP players make money like everyone else; they mine, do missions or rat, trade, whatever, when they have spare time between wars.

your action lead to keep the nice moongoo that allowes CEOs and directors to play for free. Anybody else will mostly shoot NPCs when no targets are around.
If earning money ever becomes enjoyable it's value will falter.

I've been away for several months, but most PvPers have a money making alt. There are a select few (and I'm not one of them) that can make a living doing just PvP.
As stated most major Corps I've been in have a reimbursement policy if you lose a ship on "company business". That requires a kill mail verification. The Corps I've been in have hangars full of standardized ships all set to company specs. They do it that way because they've developed strategies set forth by the FC's.
If I lost a ship while mission running, I was generally not reimbursed, just SOL.

if you fly mostly t1 ships with t2 fittings and insure each one each loss doesn't cost all that much, if you are a 0.0 resident just ratting a day or two a week should cover the rest of the weeks expenses, hell could probably lose a hac or two a week and stay even. in lowsec/highsec missions, exploration, and/or trading can help cover the bills. doing isk making on an alt works too, but isn't needed, easy to take a week of training on a trade alt on your account. also some corps will cover losses on corp ops.

Not every isk making activity needs to be carebear. There are a bunch that are complimentary to a pvp skillset: - suicide ganking - ninja salvaging (mostly for the fights, you can make between 20m and 2b from a mission runner kill or ransom) - ransoms (think bigger than random lowsec ratters) - pvper-for-hire type stuff - wormhole raids and thefts
Between those 5 activities, my pvp character was almost self sustaining. Anything extra came from scamming and the occasional weekend of missions (mostly to get sec status back for some more suicide ganks)

I, personally, leech off my corpmates. I think this only works because my actual skill at pvp is somewhere between zip and miniscule, so my shenannegans usually provide fodder for much ribbing and story telling later. I am pretty sure that if I was not so good at being bad they would make me buy my own stuff, I dunno. --------------------------------------------

There are some hints for ISK-making in the Making ISK guide.
