We are currently experiencing packet issues with our primary network provider. While players are not adversely affected by this, features such as the EVE Online Web site, forums, the API, and our billing services are currently unavailable to many users. We are in the process of switching to our backup provider. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
Update: Please note that the issue affecting players who are attempting to log into Tranquility is not related to the client update but to the above mentioned network issues. Players currently in Tranquility will not experience gameplay issues.
Update #2: Due to the continuing network issues in our datacenter in London, Tranquility will be taken down for an emergency reboot at 23:00 UTC. We anticipate that Tranquility will be returned to service at 23:30 UTC. We apologize for the inconvenience. --CCP Manifest-- |

Account runs out at some point tonight (My guess is between 20:00 and 22:00) but i can't even log into account management at the moment to check.
Currently 50:50 on what happens first - Backup provider and services restored or my account expiring later this evening...
I'm assuming I'll be able to get a 24 reactivation as I have PLEX's waiting to be used but nothing on the CCP end to process them while I can still log in to apply them to accounts.

Regarding the connection before the server status was down. If you reverted to the previous patch there were no problems connecting at all. But as soon as you patched to 1.1.2 the server status wouldn't update and it wouldn't let you login.

I will check to see if this is still occurring (not being able to log in).

Further update.
It seems if you leave your client open for about 5 minutes the server status will the update and you are able to connect.
I tried my old client that's unpatched and that one had no such issues and was able to connect straight away.

My girlfriend can't connect to EVE thru Wine in linux this morning and neither can I. I'm trying the thing everyone says to leave the client open, but so far it's still not working, and i have Win7. When she tries to leave her client open in Wine, it crashes. I think a lot of people are having the connectivity issues, like, pretty much everyone.

I mean pre 1.1.2 patch that came out the other day. When I installed this patch it wouldn't connect to server and gave me the option to roll back the patch. So I did so and was able to connect straight away. Not sure how you roll it back after patching and playing though?

At login screen, hit Esc -> general settings or some such, unistall client patch. Moment I did so, I could log in again. Thanks for the tip!

I doubt you can rollback to 1.1.1 (TQ is 1.1.2) you can rollback only client patch but it have same version. but thats just a side note :)
maybe it is just coincidence that while you was removing your patch network connection got fixed so you was able to login. For myself I could login again at 19:38 (and I did not remove anything)

My wine is crashing about 20-30 secs after opening EVE. I have tried many many things at this point (driver, reinstall of wine, ect...).
Is it possible the eve clients' issues are what is causing the wine program to crash? I tried just sitting at log-in screen, crash. Character selection, crash. Seems to be based on the time it is open.
Any help is most appreciated!

I have the exact same problem. Fairly certain it is related to the network issue described here, as I have not made any changes to my Linux installation including wine and EVE during the day, and it worked just fine earlier. |

Edited by: 2259 on 01/02/2011 22:33:51 CCP can you explain how it is that you have only *one* peering provider for your production network? You should have multiples, two bare minimum. If you do have multiples, then why haven't you mitigated impact by turning down BGP or OSPF (or if no routing protocols are used, physical link) with said provider and use the alternate?
A game and infrastructure of this size should not have a SPOF, especially when it comes to network peering providers.
EDIT: And why does Tranquility have to be rebooted/restarted as a result of a network provider having problems/packet loss? This equates to: "my ISP is broken, I better reboot my laptop". Sorry, the information here doesn't add up.

Up your intake to 75cl and suddenly it all stops being important.

I have the exact same problem. Fairly certain it is related to the network issue described here, as I have not made any changes to my Linux installation including wine and EVE during the day, and it worked just fine earlier.
Don't worry. Its what Wine does. I have the Mac client which is built on Wine. When the client can't connect either due to your connection or theirs, the client just closes. It doesn't crash.
Oh...and the Interwebs are sad today....

Oh thank god! I was really scared it was just me. I just hope this is resolved soon. Thank you for your response!! Pele
It is directly related. Running the logserver.exe application, eve crashes with timeouts to "motd" and other exceptions.
Always ALWAYS check the forums for info (here in general or the linux section) before thinking you borked something...especially if you have made no changes and no eve "patches". Almost always its going to be some sort of network issue causing 'splosians.

Yes, network timeout exceptions cause crashes in wine and with these network issues even attempting to retrieve the banner ad send us wine users to hell
In case a dev is reading this, offending code is at:
Quote:
/../carbon/common/stdlib/urllib2.py(1148) do_open err = timeout('timed out',)
The way that exception is thrown is causing wine to crash.

Well I don't get why my client said it was corrupted I ran repair.exe about 5 times and it 'fixes' my client to a pre-client patch state, now I'm being asked to use the 'optional' client patch again. So unless there was a 2nd 'optional' client patch the game didn't like it or repair.exe was still being told to use the 'old' client.

i'm still getting status: unknown...
as far as i can tell, everything else web-related is working at my end... any chance this could be an issue with sluggish DNS server updates? |

I've just tried to launch Eve and my steam says it will be ready to play in about 6 hours - what's this all about? It was working fine until the issues last night. Are they fixed - and why do I have to wait 6 hours until it is "ready" to play?
I'm confused - I thought the reboot etc had completed!

Same problems here last night, disconnects and complete crashes. Another set of mining drones lost! Yet not a word on game news. I've only just started playing, been in the game eleven days, not a good start and not a good way to keep paying customers.
