so i got a nightmare for level 4s and it is absolutely awesome, but on a few missions i havehad to warp out. twice on one of them. it was against sanshas i cant recalll the mission, but there was ALOT of battleships that were very high DPS.
so i was wondering if it is normal to have to warp out with a NM
my setup
4x T2 Tachs
2x tracking comps pith x xlarge booster t2 boost amp rat specif hardener t2 invuln field heavy cap booster, 800
4x heat sinks t2 tracking enhancer

i fly caldari space and shield tank so cant relate to your fit, but until i started getting really comfortable with my ships and fit I remember warping more than a few times. One mission that can tend to overwhelm is recon done the hard way. If that happens to be the mission in question, it can be done in a shuttle instead of fighting everything that spawns. Early on I used eve-survival to scope out missions and make them easier. Now I prefer to just do them and discover any challenges they may hold on my own. Have fun and fly safe, The DORF

They did a lot of damage because you have one rat specific hardener and one invuln field. Ditch the field, and the boost amp, and put two more specific hardeners in there. 70-80% EM/Thermal resists would be peachy.

This,
and if it's Recon 1, you can use small drones as a decoy in first pocket. Each new wave targets drones first. Just be aware, that in next pocket frigs may scram, so be sure to have a set of small (t2) drones left, if you intend to clear it as well (or you can just leave, as mission is triggered completed as soon as you warp in).
Good luck.

I use a Nightmare a never have to warp from a mission
Slightly different fit
4 Imp Navy Tachs
1x Gist B-type XL shield booster 2x Mission specific hardeners t2 is fine 1x Invulnerability field T2 1x Tracking computer both scripts in hold 1x AB mine is a cheap faction one. I sometimes fit a shield boost amp but tbh it is not needed for any mission, gives a nice comfort zone though. 1x Cap booster T2
3x Heat sinks whatever you can afford 2x Tracking enhancer T2
3 ccc
I also keep Xray crystals in the cargo hold for anything over 55 km.

thanks for the suggestions I've thought about a altered fit.
4 T2 tachs
Pith x type xlarge booster 2 tracking comps cap booster 800 2 rat specific hardener (utility slot either AB SBA or another hardener)
4 heat sinks tracking enhancer
that look better?

Quote: t2 boost amp rat specif hardener t2 invuln field
your mistake.
Always use 3 rat specific hardener. Sometimes rat specific hardeners has invuls, but make sure its rat specific. photon-photon-heat for sansha/blood etc

3 hardners, lose a tracking comp (NM has more than enough tracking and tach enough range), use sba most of the time, fit prop mod only as necessary on specific missions.

I use a paladin, dont need rat specific resistance on any mission. 3 omni resistance modules, a big repairer and plenty of dps is my tank. On a nightmare you shouldnt be needing rat specific hardeners either. Maybe you dont read eve-survival properly and triggered new waves accidently?
Btw on a faction ship, you should at least use faction resistance ;) Your resistance for the rats you're fighting should be like 70% or higher.
