Needs an overhaul.
The fact that when you look at courier contracts they are all complete wastes of time.
For instance... 600km3 of cargo (requires freighter no less) to go 8jumps from start location -Collat = 150mill -Reward = 5mill
Is it just me or does this seem wrong? That the average contract that requires a 600m ship and even more in collat then a good 30minutes (possibly more) of flying to get 5mill reward.
Then ofc there are all the bait contracts. Which id rather not go into.
There needs to be a way that raises the rewards from courier contracts for frieghter and transport ship pilots alike. My suggestion would be that the reward MUST be atleast 10% of the collateral. I mean id rather not risk 300million on a collat of a contract for only 10mill possible reward at the end of it, and i really dont know who does.

Then don't accept it, problem solved. Public sets the reward, you can suck it up and go for it or walk away. 5 million is more then fair, courier running is not a glamourous job . Or you could offer a service (like red frog freight corp) to move that cargo for 4 million per contract, but now you have a steady supply of jobs to move from 1 system to another and can get tips for doing it in a timely manner..

Ultimately you folks determine how much your time is worth (per jump) in this case. It is not for us to dictate the reward involved, though what we hope to do is when creating courier contracts, provide a guideline value based on the courier market for average reward/jump for example perhaps. This will help when determining a 'fair price' if setting up a courier contract.

By "you folks" you mean "courier bots", right?
Aside from the bots, it would probably help if the game did not jump from a 1M ship that could haul 39k of cargo straight to a 600m ship that could haul 960k with nothing in between the two.

No. He means people, unless you say that no-one ever uses courier contracts, and the OP disproves that claim.

There is something in between. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

No, there isn't.
Orcas cost 300m, take several months of totally unrelated training and carry 1/7 what a freighter does. Rorquals cost 1.5b, take even more training, carry about the same amount as an orca and cannot enter highsec. JFs cost 5 billion isk.
There is no effective hauler in between a t1 industrial and a freighter. If you want to haul 38k m3 from hisec to hisec, you can do it with pocket change. If you want to haul 42k m3, your cheapest option, which comes with several months of mining skills you probably don't want, costs 300 million isk. This is bad game design.
As to your first point, look up the effect of bots on mining (where it's even more obvious) and get back to me. Obviously, some people mine anyway so the market must be working as intended, right?

Yes? Right inbetween.

Yes, but what you're saying is that bots are creating the contracts and bots are running them.
If humans are involved at either end, then we are the ones who decide on the prices ù if we run them, we can decide not to do the work for so little reward; if we create them, then we definitely set the prices. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

1m to 300m, yep I guess that's indeed "right in between" 1 and 600m. Your excellent mathematical skills win this round. Also, I hear CCP is hiring game designers. You should apply.
(you are dumb)

No, that's not what I'm saying.

A few humans are mining tritanium, ergo, there's nothing wrong with the tritanium market.

Yes? Right inbetween.
Progression: A leads to B leads to C.
In this case, A (industrial) leads to C (freighter) and B (orca) is off on it's own. The only skill requirement common between A and B is spaceship command, and the only ones common between B and C are SSC and adv. SSC. While the Orca may satisfy the ship stat requirements for being "in between" industrials and freighters, it is not actually in between.
Easiest way to tell- does the thing in the "middle" take longer to train than the high-end thing? If so, it's not in the middle.

Oh god no... i wouldnt be caught dead doing a courier contract . Just think there should be some system put in place to give people a reason to do them.
