Hi, Been playing EVE again after returning a few/four Months ago and loving it, even more so now than ever. It was running great no alg etc etc, and this was with my Old Comp. Had Vista 32 bit, a 1 gig ati g-card etc etc, so eve had no problems, Recently that computer went down do to old power supply, and or it's G-card overheating.
So i got a new custom PC, with better specs than Before, all brand new, Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit etc etc, Duo core 2.9 gzs processor and more..
Should work w/o a Hitch, But now when i start EVE, it shows on Task Bar for a second, the Green incursion pop up comes up for a second. And Bam disappears , now in Task Manager it says its still using 80k cpu but nothing is showing up anywhere else.
Has anyone at all had this same issue? I have updated all the drivers etc, Gone through a crap ton of troubleshooting microsoft forums and did what i needed to there, reinstalled eve and still nothing.
Any help at all by my lovely EVE comrades is much appreciated. The smell of Victory is only that of Our enemies rotting Corpses.

I am experiencing a similar, but not exactly the same issue.
I can load the login screen, and I enter my info and log in, but as soon as it goes to "Entering Character Selection" the progress meter makes it about halfway, adn then I am dumped out of the program and back to Windows. Windows 7 informs me that "CCPexe has stopped working" and that's about it. I've tried downloading new drivers for my GeForce 8800M, the latest VC++ stuff, running the repairer, even uninstalling and re-installing EVE itself, and every time I get the same exact problem.
CCP, please help! I played EVE from 2005-2009, and just now reactivated my account. If I can't even play the game, I'm just going to have to cancel the account again!

Update:
I ran the LogServer application, and these three lines seem to be what triggers the crash:
14972011.02.07 13:42:16:255TriDDSHandler: 'res:/UI/Texture/Icons/icons06.dds' in unsupported format (D3DFMT_A8B8G8R8) 14982011.02.07 13:42:16:255Texture 'res:/UI/Texture/Icons/icons06.dds' needs format conversion 14992011.02.07 13:42:16:255TriDDSHandler failed to load texture 'res:/UI/Texture/Icons/icons06.dds' - retrying with D3DX functions
Anyone know what that could mean? It's obviously related to my GPU or DirectX settings, but I don't know how to fix it.

Edited by: Vvaffel on 07/02/2011 18:13:11 I am having the same issue. I just reinstalled EVE on the same PC I have used it on many times before, all I get is a splash screen but the game doesn't load. I ran the repair tool which finished with no issues, but EVE still does not launch. :(
P.S. also sick of the EVE forums resetting my default character to my alt.

install vcredist_x86.exe
for whatever reason the game doesn't check for things that it needs / report those needs when it doesn't find them.
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1457991 solution found there, needs to be made sticky FFS.

Have you tried manually installing the DirectX version found in ...\CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX?
Have you tried the solution detailed in http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1457991?

I'm also getting the "CCP.exe" stopped working error. I'm on a brand new (system was built yesterday) Windows 7 Home Premium 64 install, intel i7 950 processor, 12gb ram, nvidia 460 gpu. I have tried both the directx install and the script repair mentioned in this thread.

Getting a similar problem, started happening after I ran the latest windows 7 updates this morning. I've tried everything in this thread, new video drivers, deleted my profile settings, reinstalled eve from scratch, tried safe mode, removed it from windows games. Nothing works, I just get a splash screen and then a blank screen with a busy cursor now. |

Almost same exact setup as me. And now it works just give it a day.. If you have those settings for your comp to ask you everytime you play something turn that off.. For some reason mine was in the background of EVE every time it started.
Eventually it actually asked me and i was Able to get on after that.. Try running EVE and after the splash screen and Crash.. Go to Task Manager and see if EVE is running, if so that's probably the Problem. The smell of Victory is only that of my enemies rotting corpses. |

I had this same issue, and it was driving me mad, I had to reinstall windows after it crashed. Eve would not work, finally I read this thread and remembered I had shut that option off on the previous install, Forced windows firewall to accept eve as an allowed game and it now works, Thanks for the help

Mine wound up being a video card slowly destroying itself actually. I highly recomend having anythign electronic on a seriuosly good surge protector, having a transformer blow upin your building sucks. But the service you're thinking of is User Account Control. That's the first thing I turn off when I reload an operating system, do it even before I bother with drivers.
