I know it comes up about once every couple months. I searched using eve-search but after thirty pages of well, eve-related topics I decided this was not fruitful at all. xD
So what is it developers? EVE (capitals) or Eve? Further, EVE-Online? EVE Online? Eve-Online or Eve Online?

When referring to EVE the game I'd go all caps. When referring to the in-game entity - the cluster - I'd go for Eve every time. For me, when you see "EVE" in a chronicle or the novels, it breaks the fourth wall.

IIRC, EVE the game was named after a person named Eve, possibly someone's kid. But this is based on old memories and doesn't seem to be mentioned on wikipedia.
EvE is a clever abbreviation but only a coincidence. If you think about it, there's only one "environment", so the concept of environment vs. environment makes no sense.

It is in fact EVE, both out of game and in-game.
Out of game: see merchandise, marketing, your launcher icon, dev blogs, CCP posts, etc. etc.

Well lore wise the word EVE is etched on the gate to New Eden, hence the EVE gate...
