Currently....missions are poorly balanced in terms of difficulty, payout, etc.
And mission offers are of course, ludicrous,as the avaibility of items are not taken into account.
Heres my new proposed setup :
-Level 1,basic newbie missions, all doable in solo frigs -Level 2,A step up from level 1,all doable in solo destroyer -Level 3,all doable in solo cruiser -level 4,all doable in solo battlecruiser -Level 5,all doable in solo battleship -Level 6,all doable in groups
Okay this is VERY vauge, and just estimates
I want to explain why the current setup isnt really balanced.
Level 2 missions currently happily throw newbies, the ones who should be doing it,at multiple cruisers, sentry towers, numeorus high level frigs, even a arch angel webifier.
You pretty much need a cruiser to solo some of them.
The gap between the missions is just too big IMHO.
Level 2 for instance, should pit you against lower level drones, and instead of cruisers....destroyers.
Some missions in a level are dead-drop easy....on the flip side some missions are ridiculously hard and make you wonder wtf CCP is smoking.
Example : VERY easy level 2 mission : Warp somewhere, kill 2 angel outlaws and 1 angel nomad.Compare this to a deadspace mission where you have to deal with a first opening screen of 4-6 high level frigates, then deal with a group of 1-2 high level cruisers backed up by a few high level frigs.....
Therefore, mission difficulty shoould be scaled somehow,to what your character can or cannot do.Either having an option to ask the agent for a "easy" "medium" or "harD" mission, have it based on how many missions of that level you have done so far(meaning you start with easy missions, gradually working up to the harder ones in a level),or perhaps based on some system involving LPs......many choices here
I hope you see what im driving at......
Another issue are kill missions that dont give bounties.Aside from the mysterious fact that you dont get bounties for killing rogue drones, which are like pirates,a menance to everyone(even pirates!),you dont get bounties for killing, say amaar navy ships or the other racial equavelents.Okay fine, background is the government or concord or whatever cant openly give bountiese.
The issue being, the bounties make up a significant part of a mission's payout.
The simple solution would be to raise the mission payout itself, compensating for the missing bounties.
Next,storyline missions.
Heres my idea...
Current missions,e.g. one off missions, are moved back as the previous important missions.Basically implement the old important missions and give them higher rewards/standing increase/etc than normal missions.Possibly also give them a slight faction standing increase.
Storyline missions, shoudl be real storyline. The agent should be within 5 jumps of your location(pretty much everyone happily gives storlyine agents the finger when told to travel 10-15 jumps for one lousy mercenary assassination),give a series of 3-5(numbers tweakable of course) missions, that link together, creating a mini-storyline.Best example is the 2nd agent your tutorial agent refers to.The rewards should be pretty high, same with standing increase, etc and have a much higher chance for the agent to give you, say,an implant,a special skillbook, maybe a faction ship, when you finish the entire storyline.
