One of the down sides to the strip miner is it's long cycle time. I do not carry a survey scanner on my ship, siding more for tank than a scanner. This means that is smaller belts, my strip miner runs for the full cycle just to mop up scrap in the roid.
What I would like is an equal trade in the yield bonus, but have a cycle time reduction for both ice and ore.
Doing this on the Mack would be nice as well, but I would gladly trade in the larger yield of a hulk for the shorter cycle time of a Skiff. Lose less in the long run by having 1min of useless cycle vs. 3 min of useless cycle. |

What about Capacitor?
Barges and Exhumer have pretty crap Capacitor.
Cycle reduction would put a lot of stress on it. Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you. |

Im sorry, this is the balance for having such an amazing mining capability.
This is also one of the small things that keeps the hulk the king of yield that the whiners dont understand or talk about.
For a hulk wasing half a cycle on an empty roid is 1/6 of its yield, for the skiff its 1/2 of its yield. |

First, running more than one laser per rock is asking for trouble so a short cycle is the same for any barge.
Second, there isn't alway big rocks to choose from.
The change does not affect nameplate yield, which is what everyone looks at. But with the abundance of decimated belts in the game, a skiff with a 1 minute cycle and normal yield could out mine a hulk simply in wasted cycles.
As for cap issue, a cap usage reduction bonus could be used. |

The Procurer (and Skiff I assume) actually has a pretty decent capacitor, much better than the other 2 hulls. You might find that if you end your Strip Miner cycle early and start another your Skiff's capacitor is just fine.

huh, you're trolling right? my cycle times (procurer) are nice, as far as tank, mine in a mission and put mining upgrades in lows as you will not likely be molested, if you must mine in a belt then 1the DC in the low and 1 upgrade, oh and my procurer melts them ice roids FAST, FAST, FAST!!!! I hardly use my retriever cause I fall asleep due to the cycle time but I'm not complaining nice ore bay. listen if you want more tank and still fit a scanner shhhhh......fit a inferno armor hardener in with your DC, gives you about 10000 more HP depending on skills more then one stinking resist or buffer would. |

The cap usage of the strips seems to go down quite a lot on the skiff for some reason, but as a general rule I'll have no cap efficiency gang link for exhumers but will need it for barges. |

I think he meant 3 laser on 3 different rocks. At that point, you enver waste full cycle because a roid popped from another laser which finished it's cycle faster. The partial cycle are also lower which is a benefit of the hulk/covetor. MIssing half a cycle because the roinds is too small is less wastefull than wasting half the cycle of a single strip like procurer/skiff. |
