Does anybody is using a ferox for mining purposes? Is so, what's the best setup for doiing this?

Hmm with only 5 turret slots I dont think the Ferox will make a very effective Miner  ... though I suppose you could still keep a reasonable Tank and mine in lower sec's with 2 launchers/drones as defence...
Though tbh if your wanting to mine and make a decent profit id say look for another ship

Osprey will be able to mine more yeah ( depeding on your Cruiser lev )
But the ferox's tank is going to be able to let it mine a lot lower sec than the slightly flimsy osprey is going to manage, Rofl not sure how it would fair if a lil pirate warps in  .... But the same applys for any mining ship

Ferox got launcher slots for chaising rats away
i say ferox is damn good dangerous area solo miner
no to expensive, more durable than thorax, and can be stackked with WCS for bugging away

I can solo mine in 0.0 while tanking up to 2 or 3 cruisers '1*100k + 2*45k)with that :
High :
4 * mine II
2 * med nosfe, prefer 1*med nosfe II + 1 hvy launcher
1 Hvy malkuth launcher (or whatever which take less CPU)
Med :
1 roid scanner (needed to avoid popping rare roids)
4 cap rech (prefer tech II if available)
Low :
Armor rep II
3 hardeners (replace with cap power relay if npc do one damage type less).
Drones :
Valkyries or Ogres
This works if some of the cruisers come close, so I can tank and use nosfe and mine at the same time. If I take too much damages I kill one staying far, with my malkuth + drones. Beware of ur cap : if nosfes suck all the cap of npc, keeping miners running will get u to the no-return cap zone.
Note that these cruisers do not scramble. Scann the belts before warping in.
When I need hauling, I kill the entire pop and haule with a ship in a ss in the same system.

As far as Caldari ships go, it's potentially second best to the Opsrey.
You can fit 5 Miner IIs and 2 Heavy Launchers and a hefty shield tank with relative ease.
Malkuth Launchers, Large Shield Extender II, active shield hardenrs. ~5k shields with nice resistances.
Role: Deepspace mining ops, where an osprey would die too quickly if targetted by NPCs. Or solo mining where low end crusiers are all you have to worry about.

I dont i tried this once, set up:
5 x miner2's, 2x hev launchers
1 tech 2 lrg shield extender, active hardners oops edit - forgot a booster tech 2 med (or may have been a lrg named one.
i guess wcs should go here
can only se this being a good setup for solo low sec mining and even for that a osprey can be used:
3 x miner 2's 1 hev launcher.
named med shield extender, med tech 2 shield booster, 2 npc specific hardners (active)
wcs
this takes longer to kill the npcs but can still tank all in 0.3 at least, but i think the ferox would be a better option for solo bellow this lvl.
Oh yes and i had a problem with the cargo hold on the Ferox, even with my poor mining skills (mining 4 only) i could fill the cargo with ease so lasers have to be stagered which meens you are continually draging to a can. I gave up on the idea after about 2 cycles as it was to much for not enough gain (it mines less than a osprey also with cruiser at lvl 4)

Don't forget you have drone space too. I would consider fitting a cargo expander (although the damn thing is slow enough wihthout one of those on too).
I have never mined in a Ferox, but it's an immensely versatile ship if you are looking for a jack of all trades (kill mission upto level 3, EW support, mining).

Listen to Siddy for he is expert at all things mining, his recent trip to BKG was a great success
