It took a few of us to finish this 8/10 angel complex, we lost an armageddon to the retention facility that was firing XL torps that did several thousand damage, but after our few hours work, we were eventually rewarded with a large 'noto's 300 damage 5k ae range smartbom and a multifreq S crystal. We destroyed everything and collected all the cans. All i can say is we get better loot from the belt rats...
I honestly expected to find something that at least made it all worthwhile, guess not. CCP, is it intentional that the loot is this crap? Where can i find some of this Gist loot?

If it makes you feel better, I got a gistii type A 1MN MWD and AB from the last building in a 3/10 Serpentis drug complex and I did that solo in my little punisher

Edited by: Reloaded INC on 27/01/2005 07:40:35 that is truly incredible i wonder how ccp have done the loot drop table from npc complexes.
i spose they cant have people chaining uber loot from them so they have to throw in crap drops to discourage farming but that is really ghey.
I am the bad guy the kriptonite the green cronic.

Edited by: Siddy on 27/01/2005 10:57:14 Most proffitable of Complexes are 5/10 atm
why?
they can be found in empire space
They contain 1m to 1,5m rats
they arent to hard, you can do em easy with few ravens
they respawn fast
and yes, you are getting beter risk vs reward in 5/10 > complexes
go figure why

Haha, that's not right.
From an average 3/10 I make 30-100m from Gistii loot, it takes 20-30 minutes to do and there is absolutely 0 risk in an Assault Frigate.

Just out of interest, as a new player, what are these complexes I keep hearing about, and what level could I attempt with a Caracal cruiser?

Somewhat off-topic, but I destroyed an abandonded stargate in a mission recently.
Took the risk of blowing the bonus (one whole unit of station container!!!) just to sit there and work over this broken stargate w/ a Prophecy full of named Hvy Pulse lasers w/ multi's. Took so long I cooked/ate dinner, did a load of laundry, read _War and Peace_, and got back in just enough time to wait for about 15 minutes before the big explosion. The Structure of these things is enormous - there has to be something good, right?
No. Not a single thing - not even a can. Lesson learned: the station container was a bargain. |

Complexes are bases or ocupied debris in dead space (use the jump gates found in some systems to get into them). They have difficulty ratings from 1 to 10 easy to hard respectvly. Some complexes have multiple levels and get harder as you go in deeper (1st jumpgate in then there is another jump gate where you "land" These secondary, tertiary etc jump gates usually have "requirments" for you to use them from easy (destroy all npc in the area before you can use it), to finding the "key" to use the gate (usually on the meanest looking npc in the area). The only fixed structures i bother destroying are usually mobile house complex or bases as they tend to drop loot cans nothing else seems to give you anything more than a 0.000xx security boost and isn't worth the ammo you need to take down the Insane structure levels.

Oh and for those that think about it no you can't get to like the 3rd level in a complex and bookmark it. You can make the bookmark but try to warp to it and you just end up at the jump gate to the 1st level so make sure you have everything you need before you go in and don't waste all your ammo on the structures at the 1st level ;)

Err, wow - I've done countless level 3 and 4 complexes and I've never gotten so much as 1 piece of Gistlii loot. Where are these complexes you're doing? --

Ive done a couple of level 3's with corp mates. At first glance the loot looks pretty poor, but we have had things like Modulated Pulse Weapons (great on my assault frig) and the other night we got a True Sansha Energized 40% explosive resistance thing. There is usually something worth a little bit of money amongst the loot. Were gonna try a level 4 to see if that has any better stuff, but we can now do the same level 3 one in about 30 mins (all rats and structures, except radar things!) and we hardly ever get hit now!

I know what you mean. The 'Reward vs Risk' factor is really bad. The other day I had to defeat waves of Mordus legions, the last wave was a 650K bounty Mordus Raid Leader. This was a level 3 mission. The Raid Leader carried a Civilian Shield Booster and 2x medium drones.
Come on CCP, where is the Risk vs Reward you ALWAYS speak of? Please investigate the loot drop tables and FIX them. Thank you.
Either free the slaves or we will come and get them.

Ive got gist large shield boosters//hardeners and stuff from level 7 complexes, you need to chain the end boss for a while to get good stuff, he should respawn every 45-60mins, sometimes he drops ****, but after a few hours itll pay off. The struggle is the 7 hours + 3-4 hours chaining needed, + the organisation needed to take them.

Since they only spawn once per downtime, I plan to keep this location secret for as long as I can :)

Angel loot is not the best. I did few lvl.4 missions in the last days: 1 deadspace, 1 mordus and 5 or 6 angel missions, all non-deadspace with Gist Seraphims, Gist Generals, Gist Commander etc. and the loot was poor (best was a 525% battleship mwd)
It's probably the same like with cruisers: Sometimes, you kill 50 cruisers or so and don't find anything of interest except some tags. ( My first angel mission had 71 hacs/cruisers and 4 battleships and I don't remember any good stuff except the palladium tags. Ok, the money I earned with the bounties was nice. )
But I agree to you, at the end of a high level complex there should also be a special reward (at least with a much higher propability than usual).

As i just said.. there is, you just need to chain the final guy a few times, takes a while depending on what level complex it is. 50mins for a level 7 omplex, and drops great loot

I love it when people run complexes and whine about them being worthless... Good, don't use them. Leave the bosses to me and I'll continue making a living from personal effects. =)
