Originally by: Ituralde Well-written but if you want to look that far back, you can see this was in the works before IAC was ever conceived of, much less before BOB/MC hit IAC.
Unless you are going to say you paid someone to hit that one guy with a truck, etc.
IAC was just an 'entry vector' or a way to stitch two sides of the map together. It was there, we snuck in, we realized we were in charge, we decided to start stirring. If it wasn't IAC, it would have been Ushra'Khan we used, but they caught us sneaking in, which I think is pretty funny looking back. The whole era was very opportunistic for us.
Yes, but you are overstating the value IAC had in fanning the flames of the conflict.
As you clearly remember but for the sake of a good story are choosing to omit, Goons started out in Syndicate and made a play for Cloud Ring back in the spring/summer of '06. D2 was just about to abandon the region, but for the sake of their e-image, came back to ****-kick the upstart goons going after it.
Right around then, the Smoske incident happened, goons talked ****, and BoB decided to head to Syndicate to wait for the goons when they came back from Cloud Ring to SU-. Bob kicked them out of syndicate, said there are no goons, talked **** about how they'd stomp on any attempt the goons made to re-enter 0.0 in a meaningful way. This is why the goons had it in for BOB initially.
To go back to the other side of EVE, that conflict dates back to when The Five controlled all of the ex-CA space in the east back in 2005. RA pos-spammed the entire region until -5- decided it wasn't worth their effort. Suprm died, Black w/e and ATUK went up north, but Shinra and M. corp later abandoned the rest and formed Lotka Volterra and returned to the far east. Their coalition, formed later with everyone and their brothers had knocked RA down to one station system, C-J6MT, a name that makes those who remember it still feel a bit sick inside. Red Alliance put up an excellent defense, and LV, ERA, Veritas Immortalis, and their other coalition mates (Chimera Pact and Knights of Southerncross iirc) were content to let them stew for a while.
ERA then failcascaded after getting hotdropped/logintrapped by RA and went to empire, and RA began to push back.
That's when goons came into the picture.
At that time, IAC was a fledgeling group, busy fighting off Curse Coalition stealthbomber camps and trying to spread its wings. They fought a brief war with LV, but it wasn't until much later that they had enough muscle internally (after Ushra'Khan was kicked out of provi in early '07 after the disaster in QR-K85 and beyond) to even begin to effect things. That's almost a full year after this stage was set with goons helping RA take out Veritas Immortalis and progressively the rest of the LV-led coalition.
So, your alternate history is interesting, but the fulcrum point of this string of events is earlier than you say it is.
If you greased the wheels to help this along, then good for you. But don't pretend like this was all your doing.
Beyond that, the second failcascade of IT was inevitable after their coalition got their poo pushed in their ill-advised assault on H-W9TY and they fractured internally. Once it was shown INIT's allies (being generous to INIT itself) weren't up to the task of holding recovered -A- and its stainwagon allies down, the writing was long past on the wall for IT. _____________________________ Fear is the mind-killer.

This historical account is pretty accurate, I was one of the guys high up in LV at the time... and yes C-J does give me the shivers still :) It's all ancient history now though... right? |

I pity anyone who tries to invade them, the DRF have shown that they don't failcascade easily and fight tooth-and-nail for every last system. I wouldn't sign up for that fight. _____________________________ Fear is the mind-killer.

I also know all the guys who had "influence" in SA, and none of them gave that much of a crap about what Evol, up in VA/NVA/PA space were up to. In fact, the heart and soul of SA; MASS, COL, IGS, SGE/Species, IE-EX and TYC were on pretty good terms with Evol/m0o/ATUK. And SA could never out blob CA. Ever. Trust me, we tried. Every Night.
The timeline here makes no sense, BoB is by the standards of Molle's "career" the least signiicant era. ArcaneM0oVolution (what would later become DICE and a more active Evol), with boost from BNC and RKK was much more significant than any previous (or current) alliance in game. Most of those guys have left or emoraged out.
... Or are we ignoring 2003 to 2006?
That's insulting. I'm way classier than Droklar ever was!
(I actually have no idea what you're getting at here, but maybe Tyrrax might. I didn't play until the beginning of 2004. A lot of those acronyms you just name-dropped didn't factor into my plot significantly, or at all, so I'm not sure what you think they have to do with anything. All I did, in essence, was remotely and carefully groom a few large online communities to be potential antagonists, then created a convenient path for two armies to travel down and meet; the specifics are more complicated than the story, but it worked, and I win, yaaaaaaay! Istvaan claims all credit! All of it!)
I think I have an idea wtf he's on about.
Originally by: Istvaan Shogaatsu I knew I had to **** them off enough to come back in force, in the numbers the SA goons were notorious for.

Actually IIRC the talks had way more to do with developing games that allowed you to be sneaky, underhanded, and not even have to log in much to have a giant impact on the game world, but hey, we're only posting in a thread where the OP's biggest *known* claim to fame is getting his name in PC Gamer back in 2005. vOv
EDIT: And also, BoB/Kenny/IT claimed to have killed us twice and never actually did, if you're keeping count.

Originally by: Istvaan Shogaatsu Thus, IAC went to war against ISS, friend to BoB - and seemingly drew the counter-reaction of BoB's janissaries, the MC. (This, in fact, was our doing.)
I can't vouch for any part of the story, but I can give a tiny bit if insight into this quote. I was on ISS's management team when the war with IAC came. Publicly, we weren't friends with BoB and I don't think we were even seen as friends with BoB. They invited us to Period Basis as part of a profit-sharing moon mining deal, then kicked us out shortly thereafter. The ISS-BoB thing was due to the fact they took over that D2 station and then gave it to ISS (probably the biggest mistake ISS ever made was accepting that).
That said, the alliance leaders had informed me of a kind of "If we're screwed, they'll step in" arrangement. I always figured that arrangement was bull**** as we did get screwed and they didn't step in. How and when BoB got involved, I don't recall. But I know they weren't there when ISS was smashed to bits. Beyond the fact that the ISS-IAC war was arguably the beginning of the massive power blocs that later led to the coalitions against BoB, I don't really see how the ISS-IAC war furthered any vendetta against BoB. The Goons have always had it in for BoB, and for reasons that BoB concocted entirely by themselves and without help. Remember the whole "There are no Goons" thing?
One thing I CAN vouch for is the fact that the MC was probably not hired by ISS dueing the IAC-ISS war. The ISS leaders said that MC had volunteered to help, but MC pilots insisted they were being paid for the work. I figured either the leaders were lying to keep management spirits up by letting us know we had allies, or someone else had hired MC for that war. For years, I've suspected that MC were hired to strategically put us on the front lines of a war we couldn't win. They convinced us that the only way to win the war would be a complete and total assault, throwing everything we had at IAC and calling in all favours. They pushed us past the point of no return just before Christmas (when our alliance was mostly offline), then extracted themselves without warning and gave the enemy the opportunity to install a foothold POS. If I recall correctly, they extracted themselves from the war when AAA appeared on the scene because they said AAA were famed for ganking capital fleets during pos sieges. I've never bought that reasoning.
Hopefully that sheds a little more light on things. However, I think that claiming all the credit for something as inevitable as this is totally over the top. You paint yourself as the puppet master pulling every string with precision, but if anything all you did was try to nudge two opponents toward each other and speed the process along a little. It was always inevitable that EVE's two largest and most exclusive territorial alliances would go to war, and one of them would die. I'd paint you more as the victor of circumstance, not the artisan of some grand plan. And if you collected ISK for contracts to take down BoB/IT that the creators of are satisfied have been fulfilled, that scam itself is probably the biggest news here. Either way, congrats for still sticking around and doing your Istvaan Shogaatsu thing. EVE was getting a bit boring for a while there :).

You know its quite funny how many here are claiming how many peps are saying they had something to do with the fall of it/bob.
Mitch of Dark Rising Called that IT would fail 4 months the fall. The thing is he is too classy to post about it and i will make it short.
The story is the same as many alliances that have died before IT did,Greed and a leader who lost the will to lead.
Greed.Sir molle had quite a few IT corps running his money moons without any isk in return for a year or two.The only isk those corps made was about 5 bil. What was molle doing with the money you ask?.Before it was common knowledge(i knew what he was doing on cus I was lucky to have bros in the nc and pl) molle was saving the isk to pay pl.Which he had been talking to for quite some time and way longer that most everyone knew.
Leader who lost the will/and or the time to lead.As with many mid level underlings the power gets to there heads and the think they do all the work thus the mid level underlings belive the should lead. This never ends well. From what I know molle was busy gave a lot of control anyway and the rest is history.I do have to give props to molle for running his alliance as long as he did.Not a easy thing at all in this game.props to you molle
ITS to bad mitch for dark rising has was to much class to speak. The guy truly rocks. Its funny, coad ,evenews, kungu where like who is dark rising and blew off DR leaving it as nothing. It was short sighted for all not to see it was the begining of the end for IT.
