This issue has been happening more often now and thought i should make a post, as it is getting pretty annoying now.
It started after the incursion patches were released
Problem:
* When starting eve the eve popup screen pops up as intended.
* screen goes black
* my mouse appears but no login screen.
* the computer itself isn't responding to any command but i can move the mouse.
* Workaround Force Reboot, try again and hope for the best. (occasionally it does make it to the login screen and than it is all fine, until i have to relog to another account than its russion roulette again).
i have been looking around the apple forums but no reports of this issue.
Have been trying to reproduce the issue with starting and stopping other games constantly.
result: the issue never comes up with starting and stopping other games in mac.
system specifics:
Imac 27" i7 2.8 GHz
8GB 1067 MHz DDR3
ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB
Game resolution 2560 x 1440

I'm having the same model and had that problem as well...
First, don't reboot. Killing the application should work with Alt+Cmd+Esc, that works so that you don't have to reboot everytime.
Second, I was removing once after the latest patch the Library/EVE/Preferences Folder (recheck the path, not sure since I'm not at my mac). After that didn't have to do that again afterwards.
Third maybe run the repair tool, just in case. It found some missing files in my installation and fixed it.
After that the login problem didn't appear again (yet)... But maybe I was just lucky so far.

Thanks for the help, this will save me alot of reboots, i will try the things you mentioned and update is it worked.

ok so here is the update the freezes happen a lot less than before, it didn't fix it for me but there are improvements!!
