require a fortune of faction gear to be effective.
Can anyone recommend T2 fits for a tengu for PvE content.
I'd appreciate it.

What PvE content specifically?
and also whats the ISK limit? My l4 build is 1.1 bil, Hull+ subsystems is like half that or so.
Asking seriously, thanks.

Guristas are easy to tank for. 491 tank + speed tank.
Key points to a Tengu are: * great kinetic damage. Good against Guristas, Serpentis, and other kinetic weak targets. Moderate against Angels. Lousy against Sansha/Blood Raider. Use EM missiles on Sansha/Blood Raider, and Kinetic for everything else. * Speed tank. A lot of NPC damage is mitigated due to cruiser sized sig and speed. * Fury missiles against cruisers and bigger. * Six launchers. * A T2 Tengu is going to hit CPU limits. * At least one rigor rig in order to efficiently hit cruisers and bigger. Two to three for frigates. * You can still die to things like Stop the Thief which spawns a metric butt load of webbing frigates.
[Tengu, T2] Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Co-Processor II
Small Shield Booster II Kinetic Deflection Amplifier II Ballistic Deflection Field II Heat Dissipation Field II Shield Boost Amplifier II 10MN Afterburner II
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Scourge Fury Heavy Missile
Medium Warhead Rigor Catalyst I Medium Warhead Rigor Catalyst I Medium Warhead Rigor Catalyst I
Tengu Defensive - Amplification Node Tengu Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir Tengu Offensive - Accelerated Ejection Bay Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst
If you scare easily, then use a Capacitor Regeneration Matrix, a Medium Shield Booster II, 3x hardeners and a Damage Control Unit II or a 4th Ballistic Control Unit in the lows. You will only be able to mount five launchers, but you'll have a really spiffy tank.

What I would build on the cheap. I am fighting Sansha. I have the CCC rigs because it just makes life easier to not have to deal with cap issues. Adjust whatever you like. You don't need rigor rigs... People need to understand that its easy to target paint something, those modules have great range, but making a target slow down enough to do full damage is harder (you need to be 10k or closer) Hence why I have the web.
I use T1 missiles because I am cheap, I build them myself so its a constant supply.
IF you are willing to spend a little extra cash I would say your first choice would be a nice small shield booster. You want to properly protect your expensive investment. After which when you want to spend a tad more (much cheaper then the booster) go for Caldari BCU's for the added damage.
IF you want to go with different rigs, then go with flares and just target paint the target you are going to shoot. You will see better gains with flares then rigor. Rigor is for cruise missiles and cruise missiles alone.
I am fighting sansha rats. but if you going for something like gurista or serp or even angel, that frees up more mids to put more TP's on their. Contact me ingame if you wish to talk more about fits. =D
Enjoy the new tengu =D (edit: minor adjustment =P)

Actually with all the t3 it is a dam short cut to have a ship that obsoletes 90% of the cruiser and BC hulls In multiple roles t1 and t2 [hello super booster no command ship needed]
With training for one hull.
All you need then is to buy 2 timecards and sell it for plexes and you are 95 % as effective as someone ho trained for years Pod |

Disregard what most of these people are saying (per usual), Stick to Stoicfaux' fit and you'll be fine although fury missiles are optional. Once you have some spare cash invest in faction BCS and as long as you stick to guristas or serpentis you don't need more tank.

Please explain that how could someone skip training missiles skills (including the support ones), shield skills and fitting skill. These are the ones costing you the most training time.

No, you need the fury missiles for the extra 25% DPS.

Depends on the situation. Extra cost, increased explosive radius and a ship sig radius penalty means it's situational. Useful and logical? Sure, but not a requirement.

Can anyone explain to me what this craze about the Dissolution sequencer is? CPU efficiency gate lets you use 4 BCUs and fit things much more comfortably, including T2s. Little to no disadvantages.
Better in almost every way, please prove me wrong.

You don't need CPU much, especially not when you start pimping a bit. And dissolution gives more targeting range so you can actually make use of your massive HML range right away.

Yup - true - but in my Eve ships pop when blob fires on them. And normal T2 hull + fit = 150M isk, while T3 hull + fit = 600M ISK + loss of skill when u pop it.

Two words: Sensor Range.
With Skills at V: * Dissolution Sequencer: 117.19km * CPU Efficiency Gate: 81.25km * HML Range: 113.9km (Fury) or 126.6km (T1)
There are many missions where the NPCs start out at greater than 80km range. The sooner you can target things, the sooner you can start applying DPS.
However, you do bring up a good point in that the CPU Efficiency Gate can compensate for low fitting skills and/or cpu hogging T2 modules and cpu penalizing missile rigs.

Edited by: Liang Nuren on 10/02/2011 03:29:55 I remember doing some pretty basic playing with EFT and found that the NH is almost as good as the Tengu. Its actually close enough that I'm not totally convinced it isn't equal/better. I'm pretty sure that the NH will actually be be outright better than the Tengu if you exclude super "expensive" fits. The down side to that is that its so much faster to train Offensive Subsystems 5 than Command Ships 5... the upside is that you have a lot more HP and your ship hull doesn't scream "gank me".
Disclaimer: I don't know this for fact. I do not have a NH, but I do have a Tengu.

I have a character with both, although I'm fairly sure the tengu is better, more speed, more dps, more tank, more pretty much everything.

Thats only a problem when the person is a moron.
Here are some easy steps to not have a multi bill fit suicided.
Don't do missions or farm isk in the Same spot for hours upon hours with predictable patterns of movement. Don't play often, mostly pertains to staying in one area for hours on end. Don't be a douche to people, be nice, don't give people anymore of a reason to **** you, show a fake fit if people ask, don't advertise your fit, don't fleet with people. Trust no one, not even corp mates. Don't mission with anyone if in a player corp, if they insist on salvaging or having your loot drop them a bookmark after the mission, and if they warp in unexpected warp out or log out. Watch local and be aware of ships around you, warp out if **** gets werid or a bunch of bs show up. Have some safe spots in each system if you believe your being hunted. Have all your aligning related skills up to 5.
The main one is never go afk while in space, always dock if your not paying attention.
Its easiest to just not be in a player corp when fielding mutlibill pve isk printing machines. Never have to worry about war decs or getting killed by corp mates.
theres probably more, but its alot of common sense.

Edited by: Aichi Awara on 10/02/2011 07:05:25 Hi!
Quick question.
Is "Fire-support" tengu with heavy assault missiles usable with rigs that increase range to around 40km or does it have some problems?
I have two chars and I was planning to use tank (tengu too) with HM to lob missiles from safety and my second account fitting tengu with HAM's and range rigs? 840dps with ~40km range.
Idea: tank with one tengu and zip around in another and kill anything within 40km range.
I don't have experience with HAM fits, so will HAM's hit small and large ships ok or does it need some different rigs to it?
Thanks!
Ps. To original topic.
From my point of view good (fitting) skills enable using t2 fits in tengu without spending huge amount of isk to faction modules. I have been plexing 6/10 and 8/10 plexes with only faction small shield booster and that's to be on the "safe" side. But that's only my "feeling". |

HAMS lack range, have increased damage but have issues hitting smaller/faster ships. Also, as they're "unguided" they're not affected by rigor rigs. End result is that they're great against close range cruiser and up but don't like small or fast stuff and you'll have to move around a lot apply your dps. Consensus is that in most missions you lose more time with running around than you gain from increased DPS.
Because you run 2 accounts and want to use both actively you're probably better off just using HML's so you can sit still on both chars and just target+shoot stuff.

Don't do this. Having to replace subsystems later will probably end up costing you more than it saves you!
The first fit is very good, though. If you've got plenty tank and you're hurting for DPS vs small targets, you can play around with the mid slots to fit a TP instead of or as well as the rigors.
The problem you'll have, I think, is that a suicide ganker is quite likely to see a tengu and just *assume* that it's a pimped fit. They're not always going to scan you before popping you, and losing the hull + skill is pretty harsh.
