Edited by: Rayaghuma on 11/02/2011 08:21:42 My first contact with the so called 'Incursion' was on the forum. Every 2nd post told me how hard these Sanshas hit and how much danger they provide and that you can be lucky to come out in one piece, when you try to solo them. So I think to myself 'Ok... better keep my billion worth uber tank powerboat in my hangar and collection dust, rather than being sorry later....'. I jumped in my cheap covert ops and went to the next Incursion Staging system, just to see what happens there, trying to get some 1st hand info. When I arrived I was like 'Ehm... and where is the threat? Where are all the Sanshas?' After I found out that these dangerous areas are more like open mission where you have to jump to, I started to explore it. I jumped to such a beacon with no clue in my mind what will happen. With my 'better safe, than sorry' attitude, I jumped to 100km first and watched cloaked what happens. Dozends of Frigate to BS class ships beating on some poor Sansha Frigs, killing the whole mission in less than 2 minutes. 'Ok, that cant be a serious threat... lets see what happens when I speed in'. Next beacon jumped direcly and MWD on and circling around these frigs. Voila, I got targeted.... but whats that. I dont take any damage.... but... but... they are shooting me! Reading the log later, I saw they never hit me... Ok, no losses on playersides, mission completed in less time than my BS would even need to target a frig.... BAH, I only live once!
So I went back to my homestation pulled my Rattlesnake out of the hangar, gave it a slightly polish on the hull and went back to the incursion. Once I arrived, I jumped to the next few belts, just to see what happens there. Always in 100km distance, you know... and directly aligned to the next station. You never know. And here they are, the Sansha squad.... ready to kick even the tiniest bit out of my rattler. I thought 'Ok, you lonely miner there... be my bait or better hit your warp next, because I wont safe you, rather watching you biting spacedust'. As expected the miner didnt make it out in time and now it was on me. Missile bays ready, Drones in launch position and here we go. LEEEEEROY JENKIIIINS! ... huh... 'thats all?' was my next thought? An incredible 35 hit on my shield from a frigs, not the 1000 I was told before on the forums? 'okok calm down, release the warp button and see what will further happen'. The next few minutes I just sat there watching the Sansha squad biting in my shields bringing them down to an incredible 99%... 'Okaaaay... that was an epic fail, Sanshas'
'But now... is there any kind of threat in this system?' So I went to a Vanguard systen, trying my luck there, because I couldnt find anything that was able to even scratch my shields deeper than 98%. Even in the Vanguard system my resits on shield were only dropping by 1-2%, means I still had 70-80% resists and about 90k effective HP. Not much when I believe all the forum reports. However... winged by my huge victory in the former belts, I jumped to a Vanguard beacon. 'Ooops, an acceleration gate... better I wait for some buddies before I jump directly into my very own bullsh*t'. Not long and a squad arrived, ready to jump into the Vanguard mission, followed by my fearless rattler... Once in the 'mission' (unfortunately its just like that and it provides not a slightly breeze of danger to the whole system) I was directly in a battle, where dozends of ships were fighting an epic fight against a uber encounter.

And then the first minute were gone and I realized 'What a sick joke is that?' Sanshas Cruiser that hit for like 100 points? Frigs that are trying to debuff my rattler with all kind of stuff that is not even worth a 2nd look on it, especially when its gone after a few seconds, when they switch to another target? And a Single BS class vessel that was trying to withstand the overhelming player force? I went out of this pretty fast and went to the next beacon. 'Ok, dude... a billion is easy to get, so why not just trying your luck again.' So I went into the next Vanguard mission to see whats happening. To bring it rather quick to the point - NOTHING. My shield didnt even went below 60% even on a full sansha force aggroing me for a few minutes. Not that I was able to kill anything with my droneship and its weak missile power. It would just be a drone massgrave if I tried to pull out any drones. But thats not the point. Either the Sanshas have been nerfed a lot by the the last patches or the forum report are 'slightly' overdriven regarding their power...
However, I went out of that mission to a station and waited there outside, just to chill a bit after that... maybe the huge main Sansha force will arrive and lay a siege over the station. Oh wait... that will never happen. Its all in safe missions enclosed, where dozends over dozends of playerships trying to stop the Incursion 'threat'.
Deprived of my illusion that it is really dangerous being in an incursion system and that a real threat would torture people in there and that huge sieges are happening on stations and that boredom in highsec vanishes now... I went back to my homestation for my usual business... keeping my rattler clean from all the spacedust in my hangar.

I didn't read the whole thing but I think the OP took his rattlesnake to a highsec incursion and is now complaining that incursions suck and are weak.

Read the whole thing, THEN judge it... before you come to a conclusion that is not even close to be true

>Thinks belt rats are supposed to be challenging to a pirate BS >Didn't read anything about Incursions beforehand and thinks they lay siege to stations >Runs a 5-10 man Vanguard site with dozens of ships and complains that its easy >Complains that Sansha don't try to focus fire a battleship with a ginormous tank and zero dps capability
Um, yeah.

I think you misunderstood what were those posts about.
The high sec scout sites are easy to solo. That does not apply to low and null security space. The gatecamps there are able to kill any solo ship with no problem.
For your experience with vanguard sites. You were there with gang which was running the site. Sansha does prioritize their targets based on ECM > logi > DPS. So unless you were using ECM module or doing massive ammount of damage you would not be targeted long enough to die. Actually you can sit there in rookie ship as safely as in station.
If you want to know how hard sansha are, try entering any vaguard+ site ALONE.

Post 2) Takseen has already summed it up very nicekly..

I did notice at least on Sisi that the difference between Staging and Vangaurd was insane. Staging I did in a passive drake and literally almost fell asleep it was so easy/boring. Went to a Vanguard in a Vargur and got instapopped.
I have no idea if this has anything to do with the OPs block of text.

Edited by: Lord Evangelian on 11/02/2011 11:12:47 I did both a high sec and null sec one on SISI.
I can confirm that the highsec incursions are hella easy.
I can also confirm that the lowsec ones can pretty much instapop you in a BS with out logistic support.
Incursions are awsome, the problem is the RR griefers...
Edit: perhaps I mis understood the OP

I think they have a fix lined up for that, from their latest devblog
Quote: * Since there isn't a good reason to remote rep someone who is criminally flagged apart from griefing, we're removing the ability to RR criminals in highsec. This is to close a loophole where people would CONCORDOKKEN their fleet. Thanks to Team Gridlock for making this change for us.

Haven't run them personally, but some of my corpmates did. They're saying incursions is insanely difficult versus the rewards *shrugs*

... Incursion is almost genius in that the Sansha NPC hit like player ships and act like them too - and I know first-hand watching my battleship in structure being warp scrammed while the fireball that was our fleet Scorpion ECM ship was still churning nearby.
...
What CCP has done, is force players to play almost like they were in PVP for the sake of handling PVe content. Players have to consider that they will be warp scrambled, they have to fleet up to survive, and use ships for the intended purpose of their designs too (go figure).
Almost - because Sansha don't smack talk though Kuvukai appears to do enough in the promo videos. ...
