I forgot about the source code leak, that certainly would explain how bots now can pretty much access the client internally, thus making sophisticated bots possible.
One way CCP could thwart the bots would be to change their packet schemes but this would be a massive undertaking. In all honesty, our client is so jacked up anyway with old and poorly constructed code going back as far as 2001 a complete top to bottom rewrite would be the better idea.
isn't this what ccp's been doing with all this corification and carbonization and what not? __

To no effect since macros can still access the client internals to the point you can run as many at once as your PC can handle EVE clients.
Seriously I'm beginning to think that only a massive protest on the scale of EVERYONE logging in and running macros would get CCP to do anything about them.

Originally by: Vincent Athena How does a low skill pilot in a frig actually get out through the bubbles and gate camps? Or is it not that big an issue?
Also its been suggested to use the ecm frig of your choice and mount 3 ECCM units. Makes the frig practically unfindable with scan probes
A Maulus costs less than 200Kisk to buy & another 75Kisk to fit out with ECCM-Is. When your alt gets popped, laugh off the 300Kisk & give it another go.
From my main's low-sec base, it took my afk camper 2 tries to get in to position. ItĘs not that hard to slowly move an alt when you really don't much care about its play time. While flying your main just check on the path your alt needs to take once in a while. If it looks clear, log on and move. If it looks blocked, log off & play your main. If you can dual box it, it's all the easier.

Edited by: Blacksquirrel on 14/02/2011 20:47:09 Or....and hear me out.... HAVE CCP do their jobs! And add client side checks AKA punkbuster type anti cheat tools.
This is indeed possible because every friggin online game has one that is updated and works way way better than anything eve currently has.
What other Major MMO's do you know of that have a botting problem on this scale? Not even miners that are the real problem rather the scripting that people have made to allow the 0.0 ratting with specific loot collection instructions.

CCP sells Plex for cash. People buy plex, sell for isk in game. Botters buy plex in game, play for free.
Where's CCP's incentive to remove bots again?

CCPs incentive to kill the bots is a better gameplay environment for the players that play, but CCP is a business. A better 'gamplay environment' has less impact on business than the number of paying customers until players start leaving in great enough numbers to hurt their bottom line. Once we do get to that point, it'll be too late to fix the problem. With their bottom line already hurt by the loss of some percentage of players, killing the bots will hurt more than it would now, but not killing them will continue to chase off real players until all that's left is bots and botters.
It's like a ****** addiction: At 1st it feels good, but you can always stop if it becomes a problem. Before long, you need it to feel normal. Before you know it, it's killing you, but stopping cold will kill you faster.

Remove local in space. All security space.
Make all missions lvl 3 and higher only available to FW pilots.(will bring to life FW for the Pilots that like the high sec pvp, and give them fun bot kills!!!) The rest of the mission runners can go into 0.0 corps if they want to get there billions of isks-risk should equal reward imo. Also the lp gear should go to FW pilots not easymode mission runners. And add missions to 0.0 pos's. Place agents in them for all kinds of missions, and factions. So players that move for high to 0.0 dont loose out of there faction LP, but limit these LP stores to ammo, and implants. So nothing is taken away from the highsec FW pilots. But then again there are alot of ppl that work and have famalies so that is a tough one to call, then again most of us work and have famalies, so not really a escuse.
Hulkagedon every month:) Or just remove 80% of minerals in highsec, and only have veld there.(This will create true industry corps, and remove the 500k 2man corps, and still give starter corps, and new players a place to start.) Place the best mining and industry in low sec, not 0.0. To liven those areas up. Anything BS and larger can only be manufactured in low or 0.0. Unless in FW, to benifit the indy corps that are orginized enough to hold a low sec sytem.
CCP can then focus alot more time in 0.0 to get the bots out there. While the playerbase can also benifit from getting fun bot kills due to the lack of local:)
Create a Pro-Sansha Faction(pvp)but not recognized as friendly to sansha forces, for Incursions-so bots dont just move into those zones. And to balance this, create number lock outs on gates, so the true Incursion runners that bring there fleets in dont get hassled by pvpers all the time. Make the pvp out of gates. And if small pvp groups try to camp inside a gate with small numbers the Sansha's will eventually take care of that. But would require alot of machanic changes, so probly not worth the time.
These will make all of eve life a bit tougher and fun, but will allow players to benifit from working as a group in all sec area's. Will give a wider range of game play, and could reduce bots all around.
